I'm excited to present the refined version of ORGIN RiverineGiS Geo-Visuals of Kerala's 44 Rivers.

ORGIN RiverineGiS is an interactive map that unveils the intricate beauty of Kerala's rivers. This project of mine has been an incredible personal journey, with the aim of fostering a deep connection with the life force that shapes our landscapes.

With a touch of minimalism, I warmly invite you to embark on a journey of discovery as you trace the origins and follow the mesmerizing flow of each river. Let this map be your guiding compass, leading you along the enchanting paths they carve - from serene sources to vibrant waterways.

ബഹിരാകാശ പര്യവേക്ഷണത്തിൽ നീണ്ട ചരിത്രമുള്ളൊരു രാജ്യമാണ് റഷ്യ. എന്നിരുന്നാലും, കഴിഞ്ഞ 40 വർഷത്തിനിടെ ചന്ദ്രനിൽ ബഹിരാകാശ പേടകം ഇറക്കാനുള്ള റഷ്യയുടെ ആദ്യ ദൗത്യമായ ലൂണ-25 നിലം തൊടുവാൻ മണിക്കൂറുകൾ മാത്രം ശേഷിക്കെ ചന്ദ്രനിൽ തകർന്നു വീണു. പേടകത്തിന്റെ തകർച്ച ബഹിരാകാശ പര്യവേഷണത്തിലെ വെല്ലുവിളികളെ നിരന്തരം ഓർമിപ്പിക്കുന്നു.

ഈയൊരവസരത്തിൽ ഇന്ത്യൻ ബഹിരാകാശ ഗവേഷണ സംഘടനയുടെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ ചാന്ദ്ര ദൗത്യമായ ചന്ദ്രയാൻ-3 തീർച്ചയായും ചരിത്രം സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് തന്നെയാണ് ചന്ദ്രനിലിന്ന് ഇറങ്ങിയത്. കാരണം ഈയൊരു വിജയം ബഹിരാകാശ പര്യവേക്ഷണത്തിൽ രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വർദ്ധിച്ചുവരുന്ന കഴിവുകളുടെ ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തലാണ്. അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തലാണ്. അത് കൊണ്ട് തന്നെ ചന്ദ്രയാൻ -3 ലാൻഡിംഗ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ചരിത്ര നിമിഷമാണ്.

ചന്ദ്രനിലേക്ക് ദൗത്യങ്ങൾ അയയ്‌ക്കാൻ താൽപ്പര്യമുള്ള നിരവധി രാജ്യങ്ങളുമുണ്ട്. ആഗോള ബഹിരാകാശ പദ്ധതികളിൽ മുൻ നിരയിൽ രാജ്യത്തെ ശക്തമായ നിലയിലാക്കുന്നതിനൊപ്പം ഈ വിജയം മറ്റു രാജ്യങ്ങൾക്ക് അവരുടെ സ്വന്തം ചാന്ദ്ര ദൗത്യങ്ങൾ തുടരാൻ പ്രചോദനമാകുമെന്നും ഉറപ്പാണ്. വെല്ലുവിളികൾ ഏറെ നിറഞ്ഞ ഉദ്യമത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന രാജ്യങ്ങളുടെ നിശ്ചയദാർഢ്യത്തിന്റെ ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തൽ കൂടിയാണ് ഇത്.

പണ്ടേ ചന്ദ്രനാൽ ആകൃഷ്ടരായ ഇന്ത്യൻ ജനതയ്ക്കും ഇത് അഭിമാനമാകും.

The water level in dams as on 09.08.2020 is as follows.

Sholayar Dam and Peringalkoothu are in the River Chalakudypuzha.
At the combobox available at the top of the Interface in http://orgin.in:
Peringalkoothu is available as Serial Number 6.4
Sholayar Dam is available as Serial Number: 6.7

Malankara Dam is in Moovattupuzhayaar,
and is available as Serial Number: 29.1

The rest of the Dams are in the river Periyar, as follows:-

Bhoothatthan Kettu is Serial Number: 35.2
Idamalayar is Serial Number: 35.5
Kallarkutty is Serial Number: 35.8
Lower Periyar is Serial Number: 35.11
Mullaperiyar is Serial Number: 35.13

It often requires tremendous and consistent single-minded effort to convert a new thought, an idea into reality.

A quote that inspired me to keep moving amidst all obstacles and setbacks is of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam:
"DREAM is not what you see in sleep, DREAM is something which doesn't let you sleep".

During my M.tech. training at Space Physics laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Center, i was working on Jupiter's moon Europa, and so i didn't attended a weekly talk because it was on some other topic which didn't catch my curiosity.

My supervisor Dr. Anil Bhardwaj didn't saw me in the seminar hall, and immediately after the talk send a message to report to him in his room. He inquired why i didn't attend, i told my reasons, and through his magical mannerism he convinced me that an idea can come to you from this way or that direction, and you can't fortell in advance. So hear as more talks as possible.

So am proudly presenting the Version 1.0 of an idea, a vision already turned into reality, which is ORGIN RiverineGiS, a website designed as an interface for the geo-visualization of the Rivers of Kerala. The interface is available at http://orgin.in

A quick help on navigating through the Map is as follows:-
1. As usual, log on to http://orgin.in
2. At the top is presented a combo box which provide a list of all Rivers in Kerala, and each dams in rivers.
3. On selecting a River or a Dam, a 'blue flag ' will fall at its geo-location. Then it is possible to zoom in or zoom out into the area to understand the origin of the rivers, many a streams confluence to form a river, various dams in its course.
4. A set of tools are also provided at the 'left' and 'right' side which enables the navigation through the map.
5. On clicking the + sign at the right side can change the base layers into District and Taluk layer so that it would be possible to understand which part of the river flows through a specific District or Taluk.

There are a couple of more visions and attempts in progress near completion. Hope i would be able to announce them sooner or later.
