"Cattleya Orchid – The Queen of Blooms!"
The Cattleya orchid was first discovered by accident in the early 1800s.

In 1817, an English orchid enthusiast named William Cattley received a shipment of tropical plants from Brazil. Among the packing material used to protect other rare plants were some strange, leafless, shriveled bulbs — just used as packing filler!

Curious, Cattley decided to pot them up and see what would happen. To everyone’s surprise, those overlooked bulbs grew into stunning orchids with large, vividly colored blooms.

The plant was later named Cattleya labiata, in honor of Cattley, and it started a huge orchid craze in Europe.
