Kilikoodu _The CAGE LIGHT

This lampshade reimagines waste as a raw material , transforming discarded bird cages and traditional woven reed mats into a striking fusion of form, function, and symbolism. The cage—once a vessel of confinement—becomes a sculptural frame, its rigid geometry softened by the warmth and texture of handwoven reed. Together, they create a layered surface that diffuses ambient light and casts intricate shadow patterns across surrounding walls and ceilings.

Designed with sustainability and accessibility at its core, the piece uses only locally sourced materials and simple tools—making it easy to replicate in community workshops, home studios, or educational spaces. More than just a lighting fixture, the Bird Cage Lampshade tells a quiet story of creative reuse, cultural continuity, and liberation—inviting both light and imagination into everyday spaces.

Climate change is real, and NO is at the forefront of addressing the challenges posed by this existential threat. This year we were invited to be part of Time Space Existence exhibition, held as a part of the Venice Biennale. Our partner and Landscape Architect Neenu Elizabeth will be at the Venue till the end of the week. We are happy to say, we could highlight the ecological dangers of Mullaperiyar issue to a global audience. Do visit Palazzo Mora in Venice to know more about the Floating Animal Shelter Pavilion and similar innovative solutions from pioneering architects around the world.

As landscape architects from the hot and humid tropics, working in the dry deciduous forests of Central India has been both a surprising and deeply rewarding challenge. It’s truly a blessing to be part of this community-driven project, focused on conserving a vast and untouched ecosystem right at the edge of Indore’s urban sprawl.
The ecological restoration of the rivulet that links the city to the forest is an even more exciting—and demanding—undertaking. It holds the potential to become a vital ecological corridor and a living example of how cities can reconnect with their natural landscapes.

Working on ecologically sensitive projects requires a foundation of professional education, enriched by research, hands-on experience, and a deep sensitivity to the land. A true understanding of landscape design is cultivated through years of observing and learning from nature’s own processes.

With God’s grace and a rigorous, thoughtful design approach, we remain hopeful that we can contribute meaningfully to the preservation of this pristine ecosystem. So We’re immensely grateful to everyone who has believed in our practice and supported us along the way.
