Adambakkam Crematorium Redesign

โ€˜People arrive here slowly.
Some wait, some gather, some stand quietly on their ownโ€™.

This project reconsiders a public crematorium through landscape, shaping the experience of movement, pause, and presence during moments of loss.
Paths, shade, and open ground are organised to support stillness, gathering, and quiet separation.
The landscape does not distract or soften the reality of the place; it holds it with restraint and order.
What emerges is a setting that acknowledges grief without spectacle, allowing the space to be used with dignity and calm.

Spanning 18 acres and meeting Class A bus terminus standards, it accommodates 96 Moffusil buses and 24 city bus bays. With inclusive features like a Mothersโ€™ feeding room, health care center, barrier-free access, and spacious waiting areas, Terra Amata sets a new standard for accessible and comfortable travel.
