Moovila 🌿 (Salaparni) is a traditional medicinal plant known for its unique three-leaf arrangement. In Malayalam, “Moo” means three, which is how this plant got its beautiful local name.

Used in Ayurveda, Folk, and Unani systems, the root of this plant has been traditionally used for digestion, inflammation, cough, fever, asthma, urinary problems, weakness, and more. Old village remedies also used root decoction for diarrhea.

This plant naturally prefers growing wild in moist areas and forests. At Fathers Herbs, we respect that nature and allow many medicinal plants like Moovila to grow freely inside our garden

Did you know there are two traditional varieties of Adalodakam (Vasaka)? 🌿

In this video, we are showing both the common big leaf Adalodakam and the smaller leaf Chittadalodakam from the Fathers Herbs garden.

Botanical name: Justicia adhatoda

The big leaf type is more commonly seen, while Chittadalodakam is comparatively rarer and traditionally considered more medicinally valuable by many herbal practitioners.

Both varieties are easy to grow from cuttings and are widely connected with traditional home remedies for cough, fever, respiratory discomfort, and herbal hair oil preparation.

Chittadalodakam also grows with many healthy tiny branches, making it attractive in herbal gardens.

⚠️ Traditionally, pregnant women are advised to avoid using Adalodakam without proper medical guidance.

We currently grow two different varieties of Indigo plants in our herbal garden.

One variety is traditionally used for making natural blue dye, while the other is known in traditional practices for medicinal importance.

Indigo plants are easy to grow and produce small seed pods containing tiny seeds.

Many traditional medicinal plants like these are slowly disappearing from common cultivation, so we are trying to preserve and share them through Fathers Herbs 🌿
