We’re excited to share that our founders, Rahul Mathew and Priya Rose, will be joining the international jury for the third edition of the Scape Awards of Excellence
Curated by Scape Magazine, the Awards have evolved into a global collective recognising South African architecture and design at its best while bringing together leading voices from around the world
Representing India, we look forward to engaging with South Africa’s dynamic and evolving community of architects and designers while responding to their works
Shortlisted finalists will be announced at a ceremony in Cape Town.

Lime & steel
The storefront of the experience centre we designed for .in is entirely clad in offcut metal sheets, retaining factory scratches, weld marks, markings done by the fabricators at site and natural imperfections.

Instead of concealing the process, the design preserves it. This textured metal skin becomes a tribute to craftsmanship, honoring the hands behind fabrication while setting the tone for what lies within. Industrial, immersive, and almost cinematic, the façade introduces the flagship experience as a space where material and process take center stage.

The SS chair, designed using the reverberation property of metal, this full stainless steel chair challenges the idea that metal is rigid or uncomfortable. Engineered to subtly respond to body weight, it offers surprising flexibility and comfort despite being crafted entirely from steel.

Steel is the defining material language of the space. Raw mild steel establishes the industrial foundation, while stainless steel adds a sleek, contemporary edge. From stainless steel wall cladding to exposed bolts, welded joints and a perforated backlit display wall, the design highlights material honesty and detailing, turning functional elements into bold retail features

Lime & steel reimagines retail as a living workshop
Designed as .in flagship experience centre in Calicut, the 2500 sq.ft space celebrates steel in its raw and refined state. Unfinished surfaces, exposed hardware, and process-led design shaping the narrative
Within this industrial landscape, the moving ladder stands out as a quiet disruptor. A flexible element that shifts between stair, seating, and display access, reinforcing the idea that this space is never static.

At the heart of the store sits a custom-designed omnidirectional metal meeting table—engineered for flexibility, inclusion and 360° engagement. Supporting both large discussions and intimate interactions, its flowing form reflects the versatility of Excelteam’s work.
Complementing it is a full-metal stainless steel chair, as part of a foray into furniture design. Responsive to the user’s weight, the chair embodies comfort through engineering and by exploring the inherent properties of steel in a process of expressing a shared commitment to innovation, adaptability and human-centered design.

Conversations that remind us why we started that help us discover where we’re heading
Sharing the stage with .ni.dukaan a practice that sees design as craft, material, and story and hearing where .veeram and are headed added a valuable perspective. Exchanges like these help shape a well-rounded practice.
Calicut where it all began for us, and it feels grounding to keep finding our way back to our roots as we move forward. Thankyou for making this happen
