Finding The Roots :

The study of Maharashtra’s rock-cut architecture guided our vision to craft spaces that resonate with the past while shaping a modern architectural identity.
Drawing inspiration from the rock-cut caves and forts between Pune and Mumbai, our design combines traditional materials like basalt and wood with modern techniques to create spaces rooted in place and time.

Much of the design draws inspiration from the historic caves and architectural heritage of Pune. Each design feature such as the inclined walls and narrow slits , the connecting gateway , sunken courts, and meeting spaces reimagines this special wisdom found in these ancient rock-cut structures. Rooted in the essence of sites like the Bedse, Kondhane, Ghoradeshwar, and Karla Caves, the design translates their timeless character into a contemporary context, where tradition and modernity coexist harmoniously.

The zoning arranges spaces into three key zones: Accommodation, Sports Club, and Public Areas.
The design ensures smooth circulation, privacy, and a cohesive flow between public and private areas while maintaining a strong connection with the surrounding landscape.
The Accommodation Block is positioned to capture the scenic hill views, offering a tranquil setting for stay.
The Club House is placed in a zone where views are secondary, optimizing space for activity and function, while the Public Area is located near the practice pitches, allowing easy access and interaction with the sporting environment.

The MCA International Club House Design Competition at Gahunje, Pune, aims to create a world-class space that celebrates both sports and architecture.
The site lies between the beautiful Ghoradeshwar Hills and the growing city of Pune, offering a mix of nature and urban life. This contrast inspired our design approach; to build harmony between the natural surroundings and modern development.

Our entry reflects this idea, bringing together context, creativity, and purpose in a balanced way.
