Celebrating International Museum Day✨
On International Museum Day, we celebrate the power of museums and curated spaces to protect, educate, and bridge the gap between our ancient past and the present. Today, we are incredibly proud to highlight a very special architectural marvel that we successfully integrated into a museum display.
From Sacred Stone to Living History
The Story Etched in the Stone:
This isn't just any ordinary stone wall; it is the original, exposed back wall of the Garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum) of the historic Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple in Narve, Goa.
Archaeological and architectural study suggests a fascinating story: this entire temple Garbhagruha was originally carved right out of a cave within a single, massive laterite boulder. Laterite is Goa's signature indigenous stone, and this wall stands as a silent witness to centuries of devotion, architectural evolution, and masterful ancient craftsmanship.
