Clarity is what makes a project feel smooth.

When you know how to decide, everything moves faster
and the end result feels more you.

If you’re planning your space and want a clear, structured design process

Hi, I’m Saima, founder of Saima Salam Design.

I help homeowners turn empty spaces into thoughtfully designed ones.

After 16+ years in the industry, I realised most people don’t struggle with ideas, they struggle with decisions. Layouts, materials, lighting, bathrooms, storage… the choices can get overwhelming very quickly.

My work focuses on helping clients think through these decisions clearly so their homes function beautifully and feel elevated.

I mainly work on high-end residences and design consultancies across Mumbai.

Most people think wardrobes are about finishes, shutters, and aesthetics.

They’re not.

A well-designed wardrobe quietly saves you time, reduces decision fatigue, and makes your everyday life smoother.

At our studio, we go deep into how you actually live because that’s where good design begins.

If you’ve ever felt like your storage doesn’t work no matter how much space you have… this is why.

📩 DM “DESIGN” if you want a space that finally makes sense.

Interior design isn’t just about how a space looks.
It’s about navigating everything that tries to go wrong before it comes together.

Delays. Miscommunication. Last-minute changes.
Handled quietly, so the end result feels seamless.

Before we begin designing, every client at our studio fills out a detailed questionnaire.

It helps us understand not just aesthetic preferences, but how the home will actually function.

Things like:
• who uses each room
• how wardrobes are organised
• whether clients entertain often
• material and colour preferences

Because design decisions become much easier when we understand the life that will happen inside the home.

Beautiful homes are rarely accidental.
They’re built on clarity and thoughtful planning.

Minimal doesn’t sell ultra luxury.

Emotion does.

If your show flat feels like a catalog,
it won’t close like a legacy home.

Design isn’t about less.
It’s about depth.

“If your ₹10Cr home has a basic balcony… it’s not luxury.”

The balcony is not an extra space.
It is the emotional anchor of the home.

It’s where:
• Mornings begin before the world wakes up
• Guests step out and quietly judge the scale of your lifestyle

In ultra-luxury homes, decks are not afterthoughts.

They are designed with:
Layered lighting.
Weather-conscious materials.
Defined seating zones.
Privacy without blocking views.
And proportions that feel generous, not leftover.

Most projects treat balconies like spillover space.

We treat them like the reason you bought the home.

If you’re designing or developing a premium residence, ask yourself
Is your balcony selling the lifestyle… or just filling a corner?

📩 DM “DESIGN” if you want our checklist for designing luxury balconies that actually elevate property value.

The difference between a “nice looking house” and a “well-designed home” is depth.

As a luxury interior design studio, we are mapping behaviour, habits, friction points and aspirations.

The more honest you are in the briefing stage,
the more seamless your home will feel later.

Good design feels effortless.
But the process behind it is intentional.

If you’re planning a renovation this year, start by answering your own lifestyle questions first.

When I started my practice nearly a decade ago, I honestly didn’t enjoy receiving random messages I hadn’t signed up for. It felt intrusive like my personal space was being crossed.

Over the years, I’ve realised this is simply how our industry works.

And to be clear, I do enjoy discovering new materials, products, finishes, and innovations. That’s how our work evolves.

What really helps, though, is thoughtful communication:
a clear introduction, limited images, and respectful follow-ups.

I use WhatsApp labels to organise important conversations: stone, veneer, fabric, lighting, and product vendors so I can revisit them when I’m actively sourcing.

Curious to know
Designers, how are you managing vendor communication?
Vendors, what has worked best for you when reaching out?

Let’s talk

Walking into a home I designed 8 years ago taught me this…

Not every design decision ages the same way and that’s okay.

• The bathroom marble that received heavy sunlight has softened over time, reminding me how exposure matters as much as aesthetics.

• The walk-in wardrobe with a translucent glass ensuite felt elegant then, but functionally it didn’t serve everyday life. We’ll be closing the partition with a sliding system and reworking the wardrobe layout for better use.

• The open kitchen continues to work beautifully, though the family now needs more storage, a natural shift with time and use.

• The built-in deep fryer didn’t earn its place, but the teppanyaki and induction hobs did. Daily habits always reveal what truly belongs in a home.

• Wardrobe organisation needs to work harder than we think. A smarter internal layout and a small storage extension will make a big difference.

• The children never really used the study tables — so those will go. Design should adapt when life moves on.

• The sliding shutter wardrobes, however, have held up exceptionally well.

• And the living room swing? Still loved. Still used. Still right.

We’ll soon be giving the home a thoughtful overhaul, not to erase the past, but to realign it with the present.

Good design isn’t about getting everything perfect the first time.
It’s about being willing to evolve
