Module 1: Let’s talk Housing:
I remember my first home as a place where I could run around the backyard and front yard, and could walk right up to my nani’s place (300m away) without any hindrances or any adult following by the age of 3. Here, the community shared not only walls but responsibilities and took care of each other.
My story of living in 20+ Houses and reflection on what these houses meant to my family. Raising a few broader but primitive questions like:
1. Is Housing typology evolving around us?
2. Is Temporary Housing or Rented Housing the solution to today’s living needs/preferences?
3. How are nuclear families affected by the current Housing scenario? After living in so many houses, the house doesn’t become ‘home’, but the term ‘Home’ is dependent on other factors like community, people, family, and objects of interest!
4. Could we as designers bring “home” to houses?
