This custom made trickle fountain is a part of a large pond which also acts a heat sink and manages the micro climate of the whole building in a very charming manner.

Precast wall storage units, also known as Aala or Alcove is a small design element that is introduced to the units as a small utility space to keep books, wallet, phone, plants, etc. It can be installed inside as well as outside near the entrance door. Aala can also act as a space to offer prayers, irrespective of religious preferences. The design itself has a sense of social connection and diversity that Indian culture has. The Aala helps in reducing the number of hollow interlocking blocks wherever not necessary in the structural wall, and thus reducing the cost.

Our project Butterflies Resilience Centre, nestled within Jaunapur village in Delhi, intends to exemplify a model of small grain urban regeneration.
It promotes an environmentally aware lifestyle of simple comforts with enjoyment and beauty, achieved with simple means. In other words, a sustainable lifestyle is imbibed by all those who would come to live and work here.

Designed for Butterflies NGO, it would provide a temporary home for kids rescued from crisis situations, a culinary training kitchen and cafe, office spaces , and more.

The front face this building is fitted with rotating vertical louvres, to control the amount of South-west sun coming into this interior space and to serve as a visual screen. They have been handpainted on both sides - warm reds on the outside and cool blues n' greens on the inside - with an illustration that the kids can imagine stories around...

Architect Chetna Singh, who has been involved in the making of our project Butterflies Resilience Centre since the initial design stage has also done the two artworks that form an integral part of this building - the 'Donor's Tree' that is installed in the first courtyard, and the illustrated hand-painted louvres that are installed on the building's front face.

Also a trained landscape architect, she is currently designing the upcoming roof garden for this project.
