In countries like the US and China, smart home adoption is already mainstream — with an estimated 40–60% of households in the US using at least one smart device, and Chinese urban homes rapidly integrating IoT-based lighting, security, and automation as part of new construction. Smart lighting is no longer a premium add-on; it is increasingly becoming a default layer in modern homes and buildings.
In India, however, smart home pe*******on is still under ~10% of households, largely concentrated in premium urban segments. The gap is not about technology availability — India already has access to world-class smart LEDs, switches, and IoT lighting systems — but about how quickly we embed them into everyday housing and building design. The real opportunity is to shift from viewing smart lighting as a product purchase, to treating it as part of standard infrastructure in how we build and live going forward.
For Indian consumers, the right approach is to start small — begin with infrastructure (smart switches + control), and then gradually build toward a connected ecosystem, rather than isolated smart gadgets.
With Batsons Luxe Studio having experience working with brands such as TISVA and Endo Lighting Corp India we see how smart-ready lighting systems are steadily becoming part of modern design conversations in India.
