AYD - Architect Yogesh A building is not the product of an individuals creativity. Rather it is a complex of interactions b A building is not the product of an individual’s creativity.

Rather it is a complex of interactions between various disciplines and individual viewpoints which ultimately seek to create buildings which are beyond clients expectations. The design process starts with the clients design brief, analysis of site conditions and laws and it evolves within these parameters into an entity. An entity that answers the client’s needs and reflects the underlying design

ideology. The design process involves a constant dialog with the design brief and rather than artificially follow the brief we seek to enhance it along the process. We are driven by a passion to design, to create and to see our designs fulfill their roles.

VILLA RAWAT | CURCA, GOA

Architecture that responds to its site rather than resisting it.

Set on a sloping site in Curca, Villa Rawat is conceived as a series of layered volumes that follow the natural gradient of the terrain. Strong horizontal planes step with the slope, framing views while creating deep overhangs and effective weather protection suited to Goa’s climate.

The architectural language is contemporary, responding to the client’s brief, while stone and terracotta introduce warmth, texture and a tactile quality to the otherwise clean geometry.

Study models played an important role in the process. They allowed us to explore the relationship between the built form and the slope, test the composition of the horizontal planes, and progressively fine-tune the design before translating it into architecture.

A house shaped by the terrain, the climate and the view. TropicalArchitecture

Set into a sloping terrain, the villa is conceived as a series of layered volumes that follow and mirror the natural gradient of the site.

The strong horizontal planes create a sense of continuity while framing views and providing generous weather protection suited to Goa’s climate.

Physical study models became an important part of the design process, allowing us to understand the relationship between the stepped volumes, terraces, roof planes and the slope—and to continually fine-tune the composition.

First as an idea, and then as a building. Architecture exists twice. An ongoing Villa project in North Goa. Designed to exude a tropical Goan character.

Architecture that listens before it builds. Planned around trees, not at their cost.
