According to a Loksatta research, stamp duty rates in Maharashtra may rise by 1% as of April 1, 2023. With this, Mumbai's current 6% stamp duty will increase to 7%.
In Navi Mumbai, Pune, and Thane, the current 7% stamp duty would increase to 8%. Keep in mind that local body tax (LBT) and metro cess are also levied in numerous areas of Maharashtra. The stamp duty will stay at 7% in regions where these taxes won't be applied.
