These apple trees are not obstacles to development , they are the roots of our survival, our dignity, and our childrenโs future.๐๐ฑ
๐ฑ A Cry from Kashmirโs Apple Orchards ๐
Cutting down 5 lakh apple trees for a 25-km railway line is not just about removing trees
it is about uprooting lives, hopes, and generations of hard work.
For decades, the apple orchards of Pulwama and Shopian have fed families, educated children, supported marriages, and sustained dignity. These trees are not timber; they are the lifeline of farmers. Each tree tells a story of patience, care, and survival in harsh conditions.
The apple sector here generates around โน500 crore annually, forming the only stable source of income for thousands of households and the coming generations. Once these orchards are destroyed, no compensation can replace years of growth, experience, and emotional attachment.
We are not against development.
But development without humanity is destruction.
We humbly, emotionally, and earnestly appeal to the Government of Jammu & Kashmir and the Central Government of India to reconsider, rethink, and realign this project. Please explore alternatives that save both infrastructure goals and farmer livelihoods.
Let progress walk alongside compassion.
Let trains move forward without crushing the roots of Kashmirโs farmers.
๐ Save our orchards. Save our future.
