Set in the rural area of Kanyakumari, with windmills around the site, this house by Stria Architects combines a modern design with sloping roofs. It was built for two brothers working abroad as a long term home in their native place.
Laterite stone is used to connect the house to the local surroundings, while Moroccan pattern flooring adds warmth inside. Large windows, jaali screens, and open height spaces allow plenty of daylight and fresh air to move through the house, making good use of the coastal breeze.

Merak was a renovation and vertical extension project that reimagined a conventional contractor-built house into a distinct, architecturally expressive tropical home. The design focused on spatial efficiency, aesthetic refinement, and climatic responsiveness. A new first floor was added and carefully integrated with the existing structure. Key architectural elements included elongated arched openings, deep niches, corner bay windows, and sloping roof, all enhancing natural light, ventilation, and visual character while aligning with the clients’ functional requirements.

HITHAM’ is a calm and carefully curated home, designed and executed by the architects themselves, reflecting their own design sensibilities. Soft curves, warm neutral tones, lime washed textures and fluted glass create a serene, wabi sabi atmosphere. The carved niches, rounded console and smooth furniture edges bring a gentle sense of flow throughout the space. The design blends modern simplicity with handcrafted warmth, while indoor plants add a fresh, natural softness to the overall setting.
