The Stillwater Residence
Designed by Cognition Design Studio in the coastal landscape of Chavakkad, Kerala, The Stillwater Residence is a contemporary sanctuary anchored by the serene presence of water.
The architectural journey begins along an approach pathway flanked by a calm, softly overflowing waterbody that establishes an immediate sense of tranquility. From this entry sit-out, the home unfolds through a fluid spatial progression, moving seamlessly from public zones into semi-private family living areas before culminating in the private bedroom sanctuaries. The residence frames a central water courtyard and swimming pool through expansive, floor-to-ceiling windows that dissolve traditional outdoor boundaries.
Inside, the architecture embraces a philosophy of quiet restraint with minimally designed furniture and a sophisticated, muted palette dominated by shades of grey and white, punctuated by warm touches of wood. Through this orchestration of form and climate, the home gracefully internalizes nature into an enduring architecture of quiet permanence.
