For the new Rita Levi Montalcini Laboratory Center, Busselli Scherer’s proposal conceives the main entrance as a square. The building’s main is an impressive full‑height glass element that separates the south volume from the east volume, creating a strong visual connection between the exterior surroundings and the internal foyer.

Adjacent to the entrance, foyer and lounge areas are distributed across multiple levels, conceived as spaces for relaxation and informal interaction. From here, those outside can perceive the inner life and movement within the new Research Hub, while those insides can let their gaze wander toward the surrounding greenery. This creates a vital visual connection that extends across the entire height of the building.

Per il nuovo Polo dei Laboratori Rita Levi Montalcini, la proposta di Busselli Scherer concepisce l’ingresso principale come una piazza. La hall di accesso all’edificio si caratterizza per un’imponente spaccatura vetrata a tutta altezza, che divide il volume sud dal volume est, e che mette in relazione visiva l’ambiente esterno con la piazza interna.

Sull’ingresso, ai diversi livelli dell’edificio, sono collocati foyer/lounge destinati ad aree relax e spazi informali di incontro. Da qui chi è fuori può percepire la vita interna del Nuovo Polo per la Ricerca e chi si trova all’interno può far spaziare la vista sul verde esterno. Una connessione visiva vitale distribuita su tutta l’altezza dell’opera.

Busselli Scherer proposal for the new Rita Levi Montalcini Laboratory Center in Rome is developed through four independent volumes, which are also autonomous in terms of their mechanical systems, open onto a central foyer, the social heart of the building connected through a flexible and intuitive linking spaces.

Interior circulation system characterized by suspended walkways serving as horizontal connections, balconies, and shared meeting areas on each floor. It creates a vibrant interior environment that enhances the interconnection between the various volumes. Seen from the outside, overall unity is provided by the materiality of the façade shared by all its elements, which defines the architectural identity and gives it a strong innovative component. The perception is that of an interconnected network, a space in motion, where every part communicates with the others through a network of defined connections.

La proposta di Busselli Scherer per il nuovo Polo dei Laboratori Rita Levi Montalcini a Roma si sviluppa attraverso quattro volumi indipendenti anche dal punto di vista impiantistico. I volumi si affacciano su una “piazza/foyer” centrale, cuore sociale dell’edificio, connettendosi tra loro grazie a un sistema di collegamento agile e intuitivo.

Il sistema connettivo interno, caratterizzato da collegamenti sospesi, ballatoi e aree di incontro ai piani, scandisce i flussi della vita interna potenziando l’interconnessione tra i volumi. Esternamente l’unitarietà complessiva è conferita dalla matericità di facciata, comune a tutti gli innesti, che marca l’identità dell’architettura conferendole una forte componente innovativa. La percezione è di un cosmo interconnesso, un universo in attività, dove ogni parte comunica con le altre grazie a una rete di connessioni definite.

The project proposal by Busselli Scherer, dedicated to the construction of the new Rita Levi Montalcini Laboratory Center, draws inspiration from the immensely prestigious scientist, to whom this place is dedicated; a woman representing social progress and gender parity. The architecture presented here stands as a point of reference not only within the universe represented by the Spallanzani Institute, but also at European and international level.

Key elements of the project include: a physical and visual connection network, specific solutions designed to ensure environmental and social sustainability, as well as a special smart façade complemented by a green roof.

La proposta di Busselli Scherer per il concorso indetto dall’INMI L. Spallanzani di Roma, dedicato alla realizzazione del nuovo Polo dei Laboratori Rita Levi Montalcini trova ispirazione nella scienziata di immenso prestigio alla quale questo luogo è dedicato. L’architettura qui presentata si pone quale punto di riferimento identitario non solo all’interno dell’universo rappresentato dall’istituto Spallanzani, ma anche a livello europeo e internazionale.

Tra gli elementi cardine di progetto: una rete connettiva fisica e visiva, soluzioni volte alla sostenibilità ambientale e sociale, una speciale facciata attiva corredata da una copertura verde.

On Tuesday, 27 January, in the evocative setting of the Fonderia Napoleonica Eugenia in Milan, we had the privilege and honour of taking to the stage alongside Luca Paterno, Director of Building & Development at .techpark to receive an important award: an honourable mention at THE PLAN Real Estate Awards for the Trilitica project.

The jury’s reasons: “The Jury believes Trilitica effectively interprets ESG values by reducing the carbon footprint and fostering bright, flexible workspaces centred on user well-being. Furthermore, it demonstrates that ESG criteria and urban regeneration are applicable across different latitudes, including mid-sized cities like Bolzano.”

We would like to thank the jury of THE PLAN Real Estate Award for recognising the value of a project dedicated to sustainability and human wellbeing. With Trilitica, we aim to create the first Zero Carbon certified office and laboratory building in Italy!

Martedì 27 gennaio, nei suggestivi spazi della Fonderia Napoleonica Eugenia, a Milano, abbiamo avuto il privilegio e l’onore di salire sul palco, insieme a Luca Paterno, Direttore Building & Development del NOI Techpark, per ritirare un importante riconoscimento: la menzione d’onore del THE PLAN Real Estate Award con il progetto Trilitica.

Le motivazioni della giuria: “Trilitica arricchisce il masterplan del parco tecnologico NOI Techpark di Bolzano con un’architettura a zero emissioni di carbonio, che ospiterà laboratori e uffici. Questo progetto di rigenerazione urbana, situato in un quartiere dove un tempo sorgeva un’ex fabbrica di alluminio, si distinguerà per chiarezza strutturale, design biofilico, spazi flessibili, attenzione alle risorse materiali e uso di energie rinnovabili”.

Grazie alla Giuria del THE PLAN Real Estate Award per aver dato valore a questo progetto. Con Trilitica puntiamo a realizzare il primo edificio per uffici e laboratori in Italia certificato Zero Carbon!

An award that makes us proud, and that brings together architectural firms and clients, towards an ambitious goal that promotes sustainability and ethics.

The façade of building D2, at .techpark, marks the passing of time by interacting with light. This interaction, the result of a precise architectural design that follows the dictates of a musical score, presents those who live in the innovation district with a building that is constantly changing. Throughout the day, different elements of the façade light up and go out, making D2 a building that is alive both inside and out.

La facciata dell’edificio D2, al NOI Techpark, scandisce il tempo relazionandosi con la luce. Tale relazione, frutto di un progetto architettonico preciso che segue i dettami di uno spartito musicale, restituisce a chi vive il quartiere dell’innovazione un edificio sempre diverso. Nel corso della giornata vari elementi della facciata si accendono e si spengono rendendo il D2 un edificio vivo sia al suo interno che all’esterno.

This aluminium candle holder is intended to be a symbol of the architecture of D2 and a tribute to those who believed in the architectural and editorial project. A luminous element that, starting from the pilaster on the building’s façade, takes the form of a handcrafted object, simple and unique in its identity.

Created in collaboration with .projects, this candle holder is our way of wishing you all bright and warm moments.

Questo portacandela in alluminio vuole essere un simbolo dell’architettura del D2 e un omaggio a chi ha creduto nel progetto architettonico ed editoriale. Un elemento luminoso che, partendo dalla lesena presente sulla facciata dell’edificio, si concretizza in un oggetto artigianale, semplice e unico nella sua identità.

Nato dalla collaborazione con .projects questo portacandela è il nostro modo per augurare a tutti e tutte voi dei momenti luminosi e pieni di calore.

For several months now, our studio has been working on the regeneration project for the former State Telephone Company building, which, with its five floors above ground and two below, is set to become a new cultural hub for South Tyrol, Italy and Europe. A multifunctional space – flexible and dynamic – designed to connect generations, art forms, creative impulses and citizenship! A new work where history remains an active and present backdrop, an expression of the city’s historical memory.

Da alcuni mesi il nostro studio è impegnato nel progetto di rigenerazione degli Ex Telefoni di Stato che con i suoi cinque piani fuori terra e due interrati si prepara a diventare un nuovo polo culturale che guarda all’Alto Adige, all’Italia e all’Europa. Uno spazio multifunzione – flessibile e dinamico – pensato per connettere generazioni, forme d’arte, impulsi creativi e cittadinanza! Un’opera nuova dove la storia resta cornice attiva e presente, espressione della memoria storica della città.

Nature often finds its way into abandoned urban spaces. The former HQ of the State Telephone Building (Telefoni di Stato) in Bolzano, built in the 1960s and abandoned with the advent of modern telephony, is no exception.

After years of inactivity, the building will be given back to the city as a cultural hub. A new city centre equipped with exhibition spaces, co-working areas, performance halls and outdoor green spaces. The project by Busselli Scherer will also include greenery, which, from its spontaneous presence, will find a new home on the building’s terraces.

Spesso, nei luoghi urbani in disuso la natura si fa spazio. Non fa eccezione la sede dei Telefoni di Stato di Bolzano, realizzata negli anni ’60 e abbandonata con l’avvento della telefonia moderna.

Dopo anni di inattività, l’edificio sarà restituito alla città con la funzione di aggregatore culturale. Un nuovo polo cittadino dotato di spazi espositivi, coworking, sale performative e ambienti esterni dotati di verde. Il progetto firmato Busselli Scherer includerà anche il verde che, da presenza spontanea, troverà nuova collocazione sulle terrazze dell’edificio.

The project to regenerate the State Telephone Building (Telefoni di Stato) in Bolzano will transform a 1960s architecture into a cultural venue. A performance centre for the city, young people and artists, equipped with rehearsal rooms, exhibition spaces, co-working areas and meeting rooms.

The ground floor, currently home to DRIN, will be converted into a showcase space connected to the city. Strolling under the porticos of Corso Italia will be an opportunity to connect with the culture and creative energy of Bolzano.

Il progetto per la rigenerazione della sede dei Telefoni di Stato, a Bolzano, trasformerà un’architettura degli anni ’60 in un luogo per la cultura. Un centro performativo di incontro al servizio della città, dei giovani e degli artisti, dotato di sale prove, spazi espositivi, coworking, ambienti per incontri e riunioni.

Al piano terra, dove ora si trova il DRIN, troverà spazio un ambiente dedicato all’accoglienza, una vetrina in connessione con la città. Passeggiare sotto i portici di Corso Italia sarà un’occasione per connettersi con la cultura e l’energia creativa di Bolzano.

Busselli Scherer’s proposal for the competition held by Loacker, dedicated to the creation of a new Technology Center, aims to promote internal interconnection among the individual areas of the building. The architecture features large openings at the top of the building to allow visual connections between the interior and exterior, with a particular focus on the most scenic views. Internally, it is designed to promote visual connections among the individual areas and levels, encouraging collaboration across departments and enhancing the quality of the spaces to foster a greater sense of belonging. It is here that Loacker experiments and creates new production lines, operating in innovative laboratories and multifunctional workspaces designed to protect internal know-how and ensure high production standards.

La proposta di Busselli Scherer per il concorso indetto da Loacker, dedicato alla realizzazione del nuovo Technology Center, si propone di favorire internamente l’interconnessione tra le singole aree dell’edificio.
L’architettura prevede ampie aperture sulla porzione sommitale dei volumi per consentire i collegamenti visivi tra interno ed esterno con un particolare focus sulle viste di maggior pregio panoramico. Internamente è studiato per favorire i collegamenti visivi tra le singole zone e i livelli, promuovendo la collaborazione tra reparti e accrescendo la qualità abitativa degli spazi a favore di un maggior senso di appartenenza. È qui che Loacker sperimenta e crea nuove linee produttive operando in laboratori innovativi e spazi di lavoro multifunzionali concepiti per proteggere il know how interno e garantire elevati standard produttivi.
