"Nest Core"

This designed home is situated in Athurugiriya on a sloping 6.3-perch plot. It seamlessly integrates modern functionality with artistic elegance, offering spaces such as a living area, dining area, open kitchen, wet kitchen, study area, master bedroom, junior master bedroom, visitor bedroom, open terrace, and parking for two vehicles.

The clients, a university lecturer and an IT professional lead busy lives and sought a tranquil, relaxing environment for themselves and their child. The main challenge for the architect was to incorporate all the necessary features within the limited, sloping land without requiring extensive land filling.

To achieve this, the house was designed with intermediate levels, following the natural contours of the land. This innovative layout not only maximizes space efficiency but also enhances natural ventilation and lighting. The house follows a distinctive zigzag arrangement, ensuring a seamless flow between levels while maintaining an open and airy ambiance.

A centrally placed staircase divides the house into two main sections, complemented by two courtyards on either side. These courtyards serve as green breathing spaces, connecting the indoor environment with nature. Over time, as trees grow and vibrant flowers bloom, the house will transform into a lush haven, attracting butterflies and birds, further enriching its serene atmosphere.

This home stands as a testament to thoughtful architectural planning, where creativity meets functionality to create a living space that is both practical and aesthetically inspiring.
