The project is the renovation of a modernist villa from the late 1960s, set in a truly special context: the “Versiliana” park in Marina di Pietrasanta, Lucca.

Holiday House – Marina di Pietrasanta

For a total surface of 150sqm, the house is developed on two levels: at the ground floor, we demolished every internal partition to create a unique and very bright space with the effect of continuity between inside and outside to feel surrounded by the park. Going up the original staircase we find the sleeping area, with three suites, each with its own internal bathroom covered in 10x10 tiles as a classic modernist inspiration.

We also developed all the new external areas, including the decking and a 16x4 meters swimming pool all covered with a “verde Alpi” stone and in continuity with the green’s tones of the park.

Surrounded by approximately 2.000sqm of garden, the idea was to maintain some special elements of the house, including inspirations from the American’s modernist school but still with the flavor of an Italian era typical of this context.

A single material, the mirror-polished stainless steel, as a sign of modernist futurism, to reflect every detail of these jewels which, for the very first time, are found, all together, at the eyes of our public.

Once again, a fantastic and synergistic collaboration between Superluna Studio and ETEL.

30 years of ETEL

We decided to raise the entire ETEL’s collection in a very simple and strong display, which summarized the aspects listed above and reflected (in every sense) these 30 years of company’s life.

The spaces feature 110 wall elements that support like shelves, in an orderly and museum-like manner, more than 160 1:10 scale models of all the iconic pieces of the collection, from the end of the 19th century to today, printed in 3D with recycled white plastic.

In occasion of the “SP Arte” in São Paulo, Brazil and the “MDW 2023” in Italy, we were called to present the exhibition dedicated to 30 years of ETEL.

An installation that wants to recount a long love-story about the art of wood’s knowledge, made up of collaborations with the great masters of the past and the present, consolidated by successes and goals all over the world, rich in creative sensitivity for the design universe.

“We are sailing in a stormy sea, all together, all on the same big boat. Fragility accompanies us in an era full of uncertainties, but we sail, looking ahead, towards the future, in the awareness that architecture can still be one of those tools to save us, amidst the high waves of this contemporaneity. 14 decagonal structures, like large signal buoys in the sea, direct our perpetual navigation by telling us about idea, thoughts, strategies and sustainability”.

SIRIO HOUSE

The four facades have maintained the original openings, except for the south facade where we have inserted a new large glass arch that illuminates the ground floor and the first floor in the living area.

On the ground floor, we designed a traditional herringbone terracotta flooring which gives continuity to the outside (ancient farmyard) and concludes in a service volume (garage and barbecue area) which relates shape and volume to the house itself.
