The new pocket park the ‘Garden for All’ in Merano, the Flower Town of South Tyrol, was completed last year—a project our company had the pleasure of constructing.
This initiative, driven by the Municipality of Merano and the European JUSTNature project, is the result of intensive resident engagement. The neighborhood set the brief for the design. This garden is one of the projects selected and fundet in seven cities of the europeanean union to show and educate, tangible implementations of nature-based Solutions (NBS) .
Key elements of the pocket park include , native hedge plantings drought-tolerant endemic plants, vegetable- and berrie beds, and a wildflower meadow for xeric habitats, complementing the majestic, pre-existing Chamaecyparis trees. A particular construction challenge was to built a cooling water stream, fed by diverting water from the historic ‘Waal’ of Obermais.
The garden now serves as a lively meeting point for the hood of Obermais .The success of this project strengthens our vision to continue promoting environmental stewardship through professional landscape construction, delivering greener, more resilient and biodiverse spaces to live in.
