As part of the enhancement project for the southern ambulatory of the Colosseum, particular attention was given to the historical interpretation of the paving. The reintroduction of the original archway numbering, lost on the southern side over time, restores an important wayfinding system of the ancient amphitheatre. A discreet intervention that helps make a part of the monument’s history and of the space surrounding it legible once again.

The redevelopment project of the Kursaal complex in Abano Terme is based on the restoration of its original 1970s volume, reinterpreted through targeted interventions and the introduction of a new façade designed to define a renewed architectural identity. The aim is to restore coherence and clarity to the original design while improving performance and functionality. Beyond shaping the visual character of the complex, the three-dimensional pattern of the building envelope also performs shading and light-filtering functions, enhancing natural illumination and contributing to the visual comfort of the interior spaces.

The redevelopment project of the Kursaal complex in Abano Terme, designed by , is conceived with the aim of re-establishing a dialogue with the urban fabric, giving the city a new public space. The intervention transforms the building’s roof into a large 850 sqm green terrace, conceived as the “fifth facade” and made accessible to the public. This new level features vegetation, shaded areas, and a panoramic bar, shaping it into a livable and attractive space for citizens. Completing the project, a pergola equipped with photovoltaic panels makes a significant contribution to the complex’s energy sustainability.

Il masterplan, elaborato da , prevede la trasformazione dei 45.000 mq dell’ex Caserma di Cavalleria Vittorio Emanuele II in un “edificio-città”. Attraverso una nuova distribuzione degli spazi, interventi di manutenzione e riqualificazione del patrimonio esistente, affiancati dallo sviluppo di nuove aree, il progetto costruisce un sistema integrato capace di accogliere funzioni pubbliche, servizi, attività educative e formative.
Il nuovo Campus Urbano, pensato per giovani e studenti, si basa su una riorganizzazione funzionale degli spazi interni e sulla conservazione della struttura muraria originaria, reinterpretata attraverso l’inserimento di arredi su misura, flessibili e adattabili alle diverse esigenze d’uso e alle modalità di fruizione da parte della collettività.

The masterplan, developed by , envisions the transformation of the 45,000 sqm former Cavalry Barracks Vittorio Emanuele II into an “urban building.” Through a new spatial distribution, maintenance and renovation of the existing structures, alongside the development of new areas, the project establishes an integrated system capable of accommodating public functions, services, and educational activities.
The new Urban Campus, designed for young people and students, is based on the reorganization of internal spaces and the preservation of the original masonry structure, enhanced through the introduction of bespoke furnishings that are flexible and adaptable to different uses and modes of occupancy by the community.

Oggi, al Teatro Valentino di Voghera, abbiamo presentato una nuova fase della rigenerazione dell’ex caserma Vittorio Emanuele III. Questa fase riguarda l’angolo nord dell’edificio e mira a rifunzionalizzare gli spazi esistenti per il nuovo Campus Urbano destinato a giovani e studenti. Il progetto prevede la riorganizzazione degli spazi interni, il mantenimento della struttura muraria esistente e arredi su misura, modulari e riconfigurabili, per favorire flessibilità, incontro e collaborazione.

Today, at the Teatro Valentino in Voghera, we presented a new phase of the regeneration of the former Vittorio Emanuele III barracks. This phase focuses on the northern corner of the building and aims to repurpose the existing spaces for the new Urban Campus intended for young people and students. The project includes a reorganization of the internal spaces, the preservation of the existing masonry structure, and custom-made, modular, and reconfigurable furnishings to promote flexibility, interaction, and collaboration.

Alla luce delle indagini del Parco archeologico del Colosseo e delle verifiche geometriche seguite da Stefano Boeri Interiors, il progetto sul fronte meridionale (fornici 60–76 lato Valadier, 1–18 lato Stern) prevede il ripristino della crepidine originaria — doppio gradino perimetrale che definisce il basamento e la soglia tra monumento e piazza. L’intervento è stato reso possibile tramite ribassamento controllato della quota della piazza (~ -1 m), che ha consentito l’emersione delle geometrie originarie (alzate da 19 cm, pedata da 38 cm). La corrispondenza tra perimetro di scavo e tracciato geometrico ha confermato l’impianto del monumento e permesso una ridefinizione del perimetro della crepidine.

Based on the archaeological investigations conducted by the Parco archeologico del Colosseo and the geometric analysis followed by Stefano Boeri Interiors, the project on the southern front (arches 60–76, Valadier side; 1–18, Stern side) focuses on the restoration of the original crepidine—the double perimeter step defining the base and the architectural threshold between the monument and the surrounding plaza. The intervention was enabled by a controlled lowering of the plaza level (approx. -1 m), allowing the original geometry to re-emerge (risers of 19 cm and treads of 38 cm). The alignment between the excavation perimeter and the geometric layout confirms the monument’s underlying design and allows for a redefinition of the crepidine perimeter.
