I am fascinated by the richness of colours, lines and textures; it becomes my visual autobiography about myself, thoughts and feelings of today's world. Paul at the early age of 13 attended the Grosvenor Museum Art School every Saturday, developing his love of painting & drawing. He then went onto Chester School of Art for 3 years and afterwards to Manchester’s College of Art, where he gained a fi
rst class honours degree in 1968. It his here that he found his attachment to abstract expressionism directing his artistic passion lasting over 63 years. Moving to Jersey in summer of 1968, he later worked at Highlands College teaching Art & Design as head or Art for 26 years, retiring in 1999 to do what he loves best, painting. Paul has exhibited in 48 solo shows in Jersey and Internationally, 67 Group shows, Winning 3 Art Travel Scholarships and became the Artist in Residence at Les Amis de la Grande Vigne, Dinan. Paul’s work is a visual autobiography about himself, his thoughts and his feelings and as such his paintings are richly coloured, calligraphic in movement, has balanced elements of structure, composition, with moods and emotions. It’s his strength in line, sculptural texture and working many layers of underpainting that these 3 elements are inseparable in his work. Solo Exhibitions:
