Terrace your garden: If you garden is on a slope, a retaining wall can create a number of platforms in your garden. This will create more usable garden space, so you can enjoy your land a little bit more.

Case Study: St. Brelade's Bus Stop

A simple retaining wall holds back material using interlocking blocks. We sell these blocks in a variety of different colours unique to your project. Gravity retaining walls use their mass to resist the pressure from the material behind and are ideal for retaining walls up to 1.25 metres high. The wall itself can be made to convex or concave to hold the material behind it.

In the St Brelade's bus stop project, we supplied a concave retaining wall. This surrounded the Bus Shelter to prevent soil from falling onto the back of the shelter. As seen in the photos below, you can see how the interlocking blocks create structural integrity to hold the weight of the soil behind it.

Case Study: Mooring Block

The Mooring Block is used as a heavy structure in the water to allow boats to tie up to a heavy chain and remain anchored through storms. A heavy line is used to connect the Mooring Block to a buoy on the surface. This particular project was a mooring block that weighed a total of 1 ton ensuring that a sea vessel could be secured during most weathers.

The blocks' exact measurements are 1 metre x 1 metre x 0.45 metre. The block has a 32mm rebar loop to secure the chain to the block, which is made by casting a metal bar into the concrete mix with part of the bar protruding from the surface to create a gap in-between the metal and the concrete block. This allows a rope or chain to be passed underneath it.

The Mooring Block was delivered to Archirondel beach in St Martin by our truck and the Hiab crane lifted the block from the back of the truck onto the beach.

This Mooring Block was made for a private individual to tie up his yacht on the beach. However, in the past other Mooring Blocks have been made for the Ports of Jersey and so our product can service the private and public sectors' orders.
