Deciding what materials to use to build your pergola is a personal decision that can impact the initial cost, maintenance costs over time and the look and feel of the finished product.
🪵 Treated Lumber - This is the most common choice as it is typically readily available, cost effective and suitable for a variety of design styles. However, wood can require more maintenance over time
♻️HDPE Plastic lumber - This material is a low maintenance, extremely durable and most suitable for heavy use commercial or hospitality applications. The up front cost tends to be higher, but savings come in over time with the lack of maintenance requirements
Galvanized Metal/ Aluminium- This option is durable, relatively less maintenance than wood and adds a modern touch to pergola designs. Up front costs are typically higher than wood but less expensive than HDPE or composite.
You can choose one material or a combination of any of these in your design depending on your needs.
