Gracefully standing, a ladder crafted from Shiratake Madake.

Though its finished form appears quiet and composed,
each piece is carefully and powerfully assembled by the hands of skilled artisans.

The gentle expression unique to Shiratake Madake,
paired with a beauty held in perfect tension.

What resides within is more than refined beauty alone.

Beyond the stillness lies the passion and dedication of the craftsman.

編みの重なりが、
光と影に奥行きを与え、
空間にやわらかな余白を生み出していく。

絶妙な不均一さが、
竹本来の表情を静かに引き立てます。

Irregular order — that is what makes it beautiful.

“Ming Bamboo Random Weaving,”
carefully woven by the hands of artisans.

Layers of weaving create depth through light and shadow,
bringing a gentle sense of space into the interior.

Its delicate irregularity quietly enhances
the natural character of bamboo itself.

「白竹磨き二重六つ目編」

素材は竹の身。
仕上がりはさることながら、
竹の擦れる音、ぶつかり合う音は、
製作中に聞こえる唯一の音色。
手づくりだからこそ宿せる思いは、
かたちとなったときどんな風に届いているのでしょうか。
同じ気持ちだと嬉しいです。

An art form for space, born from the fingertips.
“White Polished Bamboo – Double Hexagonal Weave”
Crafted from the inner surface of bamboo.
Beyond the finished appearance,
the sound of bamboo brushing and gently meeting
becomes the only melody heard during the making process.
What feelings can only be woven in by hand,
and how are they received once they take shape?

指先から生まれる、空間の芸術「網代（あじろ）」。

「人の手でしか、残せないものがある。」

動画内には納品させていただいた「鮨まえだ」様の空間風景もございます。

杉や桧などの自然素材を薄く加工し、
職人の手で一本ずつ編み込んでいく、日本に古くから伝わる意匠。

規則正しさの中に、自然素材ならではの揺らぎが重なり、
空間に凛とした空気と、やわらかな温もりをもたらします。

私たちは滋賀の作業場で、
日々自然素材と向き合いながら、
この美しい手仕事を次の時代へ繋いでいます。

動画を見終えたあとにも、
どこか余韻が残っていたなら嬉しく思います。

An art form for space, born from the fingertips — “Ajiro.”
“There are things only human hands can preserve.”
The final scenes feature the beautiful counter space of Sushi Maeda, where our work was installed.
A traditional Japanese technique in which natural materials such as cedar and hinoki are finely processed and woven together by hand, one strip at a time.
Within its precise patterns lies the gentle irregularity unique to natural materials,
bringing both refined tension and warmth into a space.
From our workshop in Shiga,
we continue to work closely with natural materials every day,
carrying this beautiful craftsmanship into the next generation.
If a quiet aftertaste lingers even after the video ends,
we would be truly happy.

2本1組で構成された繊細な格子組が、伸びやかな空間に心地よい緊張感と奥行きを与え、
天井面に豊かな表情を生み出しています。

大きく開かれた開口部の先には穏やかな海景が広がり、
移ろう自然光とともに竹の陰影が美しく浮かび上がります。
海を借景とした開放的な空間の中に、
炭化煤竹ならではの深みある色調が調和し、
洗練されたリゾート感の中にも日本らしい静謐さと品格を感じさせる設えにしていただきました。

Casa CABaN HAYAMA has incorporated our Carbonized Soot Bamboo in medium to dark tones.

The delicate lattice composition, formed by paired bamboo members, brings a refined sense of tension and depth to the expansive space, creating a richly expressive ceiling design.

Beyond the wide-open openings stretches a serene ocean view, where the changing natural light gently reveals the beautiful shadows and textures of the bamboo.
Within this open space that borrows the surrounding seascape as its scenery, the deep tones unique to carbonized soot bamboo blend harmoniously, resulting in a setting that evokes both a sophisticated resort atmosphere and the quiet elegance and refinement characteristic of Japanese aesthetics.

藪から切り出され、
油抜き、天日干しを経て、
柾割へと仕立てるための矯正作業が施される。

そして丸竹の両面を削り落とし、
さらに幾重もの加工を重ねながら、
一本の竹は柾割竹へと姿を変えていく。

多くの手を経ることで宿る、
美しさと品。

その積み重ねが、
人の心を惹きつけるのかもしれません。

Harvested from bamboo groves,
the bamboo undergoes oil removal, sun drying,
and careful straightening for masawari processing.

Its curved surface is then shaved flat on both sides,
before further layers of craftsmanship
gradually transform it into a finished product.

Through the hands of many craftsmen,

beauty and refinement begin to emerge.

Perhaps it is this accumulation of care
that quietly draws people in.

黒竹細割が魅了する、節揃え簾の神髄。

極限まで細く、薄く仕上げた黒竹の細割。
元の姿を想起させる「節」の配置は、
職人の手仕事だからこそ成しえる、真髄の技。

竹という生命が描く、底知れぬ奥行き。
その美しさに心を奪われ、
気づけば何度も、繰り返し見てしまうのです。

Finely split black bamboo, crafted to an extreme thinness.

The placement of each node,
recalling the bamboo’s original form,
is achieved through the hands of skilled craftsmen.

The depth drawn by a living material.
Its expression draws you in,
and before you know it, your eyes return to it again and again.

「山よし」— 風と光を通す、やわらかな存在。

細く、しなやかな葭を束ね、
一つひとつ丁寧に編み込んでいく。

吊るされたその姿は、
光を受け、風を通し、
空間に穏やかな陰影をもたらします。

主張しすぎず、しかし確かにそこにある。
自然素材がもたらす、その表情は、
昔からあるすだれだからこそ生み出せる姿です。

"Yamayoshi" — A soft presence that lets light and air pass through.

Slender, supple reeds are gathered
and carefully woven, one by one.

Suspended in space,
they receive light and allow air to flow,
creating gentle, layered shadow.

Not overstated, yet undeniably present.
This expression, born from natural materials,
is something only a traditional reed screen can offer.
