Showa Textured Glass:
Machiya renovation projects can offer opportunities to work with historical materials that are no longer produced today.

One such material in YA’s recent project was the textured glass pieces from the late1960s, a time in Japan’s Showa era marked by the strong economic growth driven by modern technologies.

Yet there is something so consistent with the traditional Japanese sensibility about the Showa textured glass. And that’s what YA’s design aimed to highlight in this project.
