This was a place I didn’t know was on my bucket list! It took us a little while to find our hotel, because when we arrived the front door was locked. Apparently you were meant to use the side door. But, when we went inside there were no staff. So we rung the hotel, and an elderly woman from next door came to check us in. It seems to be a family owned place, and she was looking after her grandchildren. After finding out they didn’t accept card, only cash, we had to run back to the car to get out wallets.
Once we were finally checked in, we discovered that our room was massive with traditional tatami floors and futon beds. Our window also had a beautiful view of a traditional Japanese building across the road.
Then we went on a walk to the beachhead, which felt surreal because it was raining but we could still see blue sky. We had to climb over the big tsunami wall to get near the waves.
Overall, this is such a cute small town that looks like it hasn’t changed in 50 years. Everyone knows everyone, and we were one of the only tourists. Nestled into a Beautiful landscape with steep cliffs and lush vegetation, it feels like we have travelled to heaven.
