若林のハウス | house in WAKABAYASHI (2026)
江戸時代から続く寺院の境内に計画された住まい。既存会館（兼庫裏）との相補関係と住職継承という時間軸を織り込み、一本の斜線によって空間を構成した。
山門、本堂、会館に囲まれた静謐な環境にありながら、南側は人通りの多い道路に面し、東側には隣家が迫る。多文脈的な敷地を、寺とまち、公共性と私性が交差する結節点として読み替えた。
土間は複数の境界をまたぎ、視線と動線を調整しながら、領域のあいだに緩やかなズレを生み出す。参道の気配、寺院の日常、住まい手の私的な領域がなだらかに推移し、住まいは家族の器にとどまらず、日常のふるまいを通じて周辺との関係を築き直す。
西面外壁を貫く斜線は、西日や卓越風を遮る環境的な役割も担う。掃き出し窓は採光と通風を確保し、内外に連続した広がりをもたらす。高倍率の耐震壁をコの字型に配置することで偏心を抑え、構造的安定性と、吹き抜けや連続開口による開放性を両立させた。
寺院という固有の場所性に応答しながら導かれた解は、個と群の新たな関わり方を示している。
Planned within the precincts of a temple dating back to the Edo period, this residence is composed by a single diagonal line, incorporating both a complementary relationship with the existing hall and the temporal dimension of priestly succession.
The earthen-floor space crosses a series of boundaries, adjusting sightlines and circulation while creating subtle shifts between domains. From the approach to the temple to the everyday life of the precinct and the private realm of the residents, the character of the place gradually transitions.
The diagonal line cutting through the west-facing exterior wall also serves an environmental role, blocking the western sun and prevailing winds. Full-height sliding windows bring in light, air, and views, while high-strength shear walls arranged in a U-shaped configuration ensure structural stability and openness.
