Want to earn BIG in construction — from your 20s to your 60s?
Then stop floating through your career hoping loyalty alone will pay off. It won’t.
Here’s the cold truth: the guys making bank didn’t “wait their turn” — they played the long game with strategy.
Let’s break it down 👇
👷♂️ In your 20s:
• Say YES to field work — hard jobs = fast skills
• Work under great leaders, not just big brands
• Build your rep as a problem solver, not just a cog
• Get qualified early and chase that project diversity
• Don’t wait 5 years to ask for more money. Know your worth.
🏗️ In your 30s:
• Move into leadership — site manager, PM, whatever opens up
• Start building a name with clients, not just employers
• Specialise. Pick a niche where you’re in demand and can charge top dollar
• Learn the contracts, the numbers, the risks — that’s where the money is
• Ask yourself: “Am I building wealth or just working a job?”
💼 In your 40s & 50s:
• You should be operating at GM/Director level or running your own show
• If you’re stuck mid-tier… get coaching or make a move
• Diversify: equity in businesses, freelance consulting, JV side hustles
• Your experience is a money-printing machine if you package it right
• Work smarter. Burnout isn’t a badge of honour — it’s poor planning.
🏖️ In your 60s:
• Choose work on your terms
• Mentor others. Speak. Advise.
• Retire fully — or keep a foot in the game because you WANT to, not because you HAVE to
💰Construction is full of opportunity — but no one’s handing it out.
You’ve got to be intentional.
You’ve got to play the long game.
