라니서울은 Frieze House Seoul의 《Summer Sparks II: Ignite》에 홍성철 작가의 작품을 선보입니다.

‘홍성철은 〈Solid but Fluid〉 연작을 통해 손과 신체, 사물의 이미지를 탄성 줄 위에 구축하며 지각과 감각의 불완전성을 탐구한다. 겹겹이 중첩된 가닥과 픽셀화된 유닛으로 이루어진 형상은 멀리서 선명하게 드러나지만, 가까이 다가갈수록 진동과 레이어 속에서 해체된다. 조각을 기반으로 한 그의 작업은 실재와 환영, 확실함과 불확실함 사이를 오가며 감각의 간극을 드러낸다.’

전시는 6월 18일부터 7월 1일까지 관람하실 수 있으며, 오프닝 리셉션은 6월 19일 오후 6시부터 9시까지 진행되오니 많은 방문 부탁드립니다.

We are pleased to present the works of Hong Sungchul as part of 𝘚𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘴 𝘐𝘐: 𝘐𝘨𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘦 at Frieze House Seoul. Through his ongoing 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘍𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘥 series, Hong Sungchul constructs images of hands, bodies, and objects using elastic strings, exploring the instability of perception and sensation. Composed of layered threads and pixelated units, the forms appear distinct from a distance, yet dissolve into vibration and overlapping layers upon closer inspection. Based on sculptural practice, his works move between reality and illusion, certainty and ambiguity, revealing the gaps within human perception.

The exhibition runs from June 18 to July 1, with an opening reception on June 19 from 6 to 9 pm. We look forward to welcoming you.

이은경의 ‘있을 자리를 찾는 사람들’

“사람은 언제나 어딘가에 자리하지만, 때로는 그 자리가 끝내 자신의 것이 아닌 듯 느껴지는 순간들이 있다. 환대받지 못한 존재들은 슬퍼하고 분노하며, 자신의 자리를 버티기 위해 타인의 인정과 환대의 태도를 기다린다.”

동양화를 기반으로 작업해온 그는 전통적인 회화 어법을 변주하며 현대 사회의 불안과 소외, 관계의 균열을 겹쳐내고, 감정의 진폭과 회화적 양가성이 공존하는 유희적이고 신선한 동시대적 감각을 드러낸다.

Eunkyung Lee’s ‘People Searching for Their Place’

“People always find themselves situated somewhere, yet there are moments when that place never quite feels like their own. Those left unwelcomed grieve and grow resentful, waiting for recognition and gestures of welcome from others in order to remain within their place.”

Working from the language of East Asian painting traditions, Lee reinterprets conventional painterly vocabularies through a contemporary sensibility, layering social anxiety, alienation, and fractured relationships onto the surface. Her paintings reveal a fresh contemporary sensibility where emotional amplitude and painterly ambivalence coexist through wit, tension, and subtle irony.

김동해의 ‘이야기의 꼬리들’

“오래 전해지고 믿어져 온 이야기 속 기호들은 조금씩 변형되어 기존의 상징과 법칙으로부터 어긋나게 그려진다. 꼬리를 따라가듯 중의적인 형상들을 읽어 올라가다 보면, 그림은 이미 교착 상태를 빠져나갈 구멍을 찾아놓은 듯 진지한 표정을 발칙하게 짓는다.”

화면 속 형상들은 서로 다른 ‘이야기의 꼬리’처럼 끝없이 파생되고 연결되며, 끊임없이 미끄러지는 인식의 상태를 만들어낸다. 그의 회화는 보는 행위 안에 숨어 있는 신뢰와 불확실성을 드러내며, 끝내 하나로 고정되지 않는 장면을 펼쳐낸다.

Donghae Kim’s ‘Tale of Tails’

“Symbols carried through long-believed stories become gradually distorted, rendered slightly askew from established symbols and conventions. Following these ambiguous forms like tracing a tail, the painting seems to have already found a passage out of the deadlock, wearing a mischievous expression beneath its seriousness.”

The forms within the paintings endlessly branch and connect like different “tails” of stories, generating a state of perception that continuously slips away from certainty.
His paintings expose both trust and uncertainty embedded within the act of seeing itself, ultimately unfolding scenes that never fully resolve into a singular meaning.

최현진의 ‘사이에 머문 풍경’

“스쳐 지나간 장면 속에 남겨진 잔상들은 닫히지 않은 창문처럼 서로 다른 상태와 감각을 이어 붙인다. 화면은 명확히 설명되지 않는 감각들 사이를 떠돌며, 그 ‘사이’ 어딘가에 머무는 풍경으로 남는다.”

흐릿하게 교차하는 장면의 파편과 시간의 흔적 사이에 머무는 화면은 하나의 풍경 콜라주처럼 다가오며, 얇은 면천에 스며들듯 쌓인 색과 감각은 지나간 기억마저 아련하고 매혹적인 풍경으로 되살려낸다. 그는 동양화 특유의 스밈과 여백의 감각 안에서, 서로 다른 감정과 기억의 층위를 자신만의 풍경으로 섬세하게 풀어낸다.

Hyunjin Choi’s ‘Landscapes Lingering In-Between’

“Afterimages left behind by passing scenes draw together different states and sensations like windows left slightly open. Drifting between feelings that cannot be fully explained, the image remains as a landscape lingering somewhere in-between.”

Hovering between fragments of intersecting scenes and traces of time, her paintings unfold like collaged landscapes of sensation. Colors and sensations gently absorbed into thin cotton fabric revive even distant memories as hazy yet quietly seductive images.
Within the uniquely East Asian sensibility of permeation and empty space, Choi delicately unfolds layered emotions and memories into landscapes distinctly her own.

한남동 일대 갤러리들이 함께하는 새로운 공동 프로그램, ‘한남 새터데이즈(Hannam Saturdays)’가 오는 6월 13일 첫선을 보입니다. 이번 프로그램에는 한남동 일대 12개 갤러리가 참여하며, 각 갤러리의 전시와 연계 프로그램을 하루 동안 자유롭게 관람할 수 있습니다.

‘한남 새터데이즈’는 한남동에 자리한 갤러리들이 같은 날 각자의 전시와 프로그램을 선보이는 지역 기반 공동 프로그램입니다.

‘한남 새터데이즈’는 별도의 행사를 새롭게 마련하기보다, 현재 각 갤러리에서 진행 중인 전시를 중심으로 관람 경험을 확장하는 데 초점을 맞춥니다. 전시 설명, 작가와의 만남, 갤러리별 프로그램 등을 통해 관람객은 작품과 전시를 보다 입체적으로 이해하고, 원하는 갤러리에서 출발해 한남동 일대의 전시와 프로그램을 자유롭게 둘러볼 수 있습니다.

모든 전시와 프로그램은 무료로 참여 가능합니다.

Hannam Saturdays is a new seasonal initiative bringing together galleries across Hannam on 13 June.

For this inaugural edition, 12 galleries will simultaneously activate their current exhibitions through special programs, talks, tours, artist encounters, and other exhibition activations.

Rather than introducing a separate event, Hannam Saturdays expands the experience of what is already on view, encouraging visitors to move freely between galleries and experience Hannam as a connected network of exhibitions, ideas, and artistic practices unfolding across the neighborhood over the course of a single day.

Rough brushstrokes, softly smudged lines, delicate hues, and suspended spaces create an uncanny tension where sorrow and wit quietly coexist. Through figures with exaggerated expressions and distorted bodies, she reveals suppressed emotions and unspoken voices, leaving them as beings still searching for where they belong.
