Based in Beirut, the firm has completed a wide variety of works in Lebanon as well as in France, Nigeria, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Syria, Iraq, and Bahrein. We strive to participate in the reconstruction of Lebanon, while combining modernity with tradition. We are currently involved in some of the country's most dynamic projects, including a 5-star Hotel with Philip Stark in Downtown Beirut, the urbaniza
tion of the public domain of the Beirut Central District with Jean Michel Wilmotte, and the public lighting master plan of the Beirut Central District with French specialist Louis Clair. Furthermore, we are in the process of completing an 80 villas and hotel residential village in Faraya Lebanon, as well as many huge residential projects; "shams Beirut", a 650 housing units in Lekki Nigeria, "Saadiyat Village" a 350 housing units in Ain Al Moghara Lebanon, "CIL village" a 650 housing units in Naameh Lebanon, a typical lebanese village "Olivia's house" a 80 residential units in Mhaidsseh Lebanon and also a huge touristic resort in Jounieh Lebnanon. Also we are currently working as Architects of record on the "Grand theatre Hotel" project in Downtown Beirut in collaboration with the lead Architect of this project, Sir Richard Rogers (RHS P) with the Arup for the technical aspects and with Lady Weinberg (Anoushka Hempel Design) for the Design. With Sir David Chipperfield, we are involved as local Architect in a residential project in BCD including 11 buildings. The firm was established in 1979 by Ziad Akl, as a successor of the "Bureau d'Etude et d'Entreprises", a distinguished firm with many realizations in Lebanon and the near east, which was founded by his father, Panai Akl, in the early 40's. Ziad Akl & Partners developed into a partnership in 1984, and since then, has steadily grown to become one of the leading architectural practices in Lebanon. Principal and founder of the firm, Ziad Akl received bachelor’s degree architecture from Lebanese academy of fine arts in 1974 and a master's degree in urban and regional planning from “École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées”, in Paris. His involvement in the architectural life of his country is witnessed by his numerous memberships on multiple associations and on the Higher Council of Planning in Lebanon since 1984. Throughout his career, Ziad Akl has coupled his professional activity with teaching. He has been the dean of ALBA/BALAMAND University town planning institute since its creation in 1994 in partnership with the French Institute of Town Planning of Marne-La-Vallée in France.
