CMA-CGM Headquarters refurbishment

The refurbishment of the CMA-CGM offices in Beirut introduces a new identity for the shipping conglomerate, characterized by a contemporary spirit and a strong emphasis on transparency. The design strategy consistently showcases views of the Mediterranean Sea, befitting the company’s maritime heritage.

A glazed full-height atrium divides the building into two parts, connected by slender floating bridges that allow natural light to pe*****te deep into the office spaces. On the first floor, these offices are suspended into the void, perfectly aligned with the exterior façade divisions to ensure an unobstructed view of the horizon.

S Lodge

On a forested hillside overlooking Göcek Bay in southern Turkey, this subdued retreat takes maximum advantage of its spectacular site through minimal intervention. For the owner, the place itself mattered more than the building. A simple bridging roof over a glazed horizontal enclosure with internal courtyards sits low on the landscape, atop terraced natural vegetation concealing a separate pool house and hammam. Sheltered under a single planted slab punctuated with light wells preserving all existing trees, the lodge attempts to disappear into its surroundings. Built using local stone, reflective glass walls hide behind wooden screens featuring wave-like perforations inspired by the nearby Aegean. Together with the bio-pool and Zen garden, the design creates an impression of inhabited terraces rather than a house—maximizing views while blending into the forest.

H House

The site sits on the highest point of the new development of Allegria, with exceptional views to Cairo, Giza and the great Pyramids on clear days.

The concept of massing subdivides the project into four distinct wings, organized around courtyards, opening up to landscaped areas. Patios interstitially dotted throughout the house, reinforce the connections between inside and out. A complete communion between house and nature.

ZZ House

A family house laid out on a hilltop overlooking a mountainous region in Muscat and inspired from the Omani fortress typology, is composed of two faces; a private face that rises from the landscape and is a visual continuation of the hill that includes the private bedroom areas, and a public face expressed volumetrically as a clean pristine object with retractable louvers that allows a transition from complete openness to a closed ‘box’.

KZ House

On Riyadh's western fringe, this home overlooks a shallow wadi, pre-existing pavilions, mature date palm orchards, and a small lake. The two-story structure occupies the site's highest point with views of desert and skyline beyond.

Set into topography, the house divides into three long horizontal volumes, each dedicated to specific functions. The upper level contains entrance and service areas linked to larger living spaces. Between them, a double-height landscaped linear court crossed by bridges introduces greenery while shielding private areas. Bedrooms, family spaces, and gym nestle at garden level, opening to date orchards on one side and a cavern pool on the other—rooting the house into its shaded oasis.

By embedding mass into topography, the design stabilizes temperatures and provides privacy from neighboring houses. Deep cantilevers shield from direct sunlight, while sliding screens perforated in patterns derived from palm trunks control light and heat.

F House

At 1,200m above sea level, this 11,000m² site commands extraordinary vistas across pine-covered hilltops. A sweeping arched retaining wall holds back the terrain, allowing orthogonal local sandstone walls to spring from the land—reading from above as archaeological traces sunken in indigenous flora.

Horizontal planes of cross-cut travertine slabs, reflecting water ponds, and cantilevered canopies intersect these walls in dialogue with the slope, generating living spaces. Careful orientation, sun shading, planted fifth-façade roofs, and crawling greenery help the house sink considerately into the hill.

AZ House

This sculptural home responds to its location on a busy coastal highway north of Beirut by turning a blind, puzzle-box face to the street—shielding inhabitants from noise and gazes. Punctuated by suspended gardens and corner openings, the notable cantilevered white marble cube on the upper level contains the master shower.

From the gardens, the house transforms entirely. Oriented over an infinity pool south across the bay to Jounieh and Beirut beyond, it becomes a series of openings that frame sea, mountains, and city in painterly panoramas—bringing the outside indoors.

The house grows more private as it rises: public areas on the ground floor, guest quarters and office on a broad mezzanine with cropped Mediterranean views, children's bedrooms with their own triple-height louvered patio for play, and finally the master bedroom with plunge pool and rooftop garden shielded behind a flying balustrade.
