ARCHITECTURAL TRANSFORMATION
From Neglected to Landmark in Colombo 02

As an architect with nearly 25 years of experience, I believe every building holds untapped potential. This recent renovation project in the heart of Colombo 02 is a perfect example of how strategic design can breathe new life into an existing structure, turning it into a vibrant, high-value asset.

The client's vision was clear: upgrade an aging building into a modern, prestigious home for a luxury gem business. Our challenge was to not only enhance its appearance but also to integrate the essence of the business into the very fabric of the building, inside and out.

THE BEFORE: A Blank Canvas Awaiting Brilliance
Take a look at what we started with. A functional, but otherwise nondescript building that had blended into the urban fabric. Our goal was to strip away the old and inject a bold, contemporary identity.

THE AFTER: A Diamond in the Urban Rough
The transformation is dramatic! We aimed for a "diamond-cut" effect, using high-performance, one-way heat-controlled glass panels with sleek aluminum frames. This not only gives the exterior a striking, faceted look but also optimizes energy efficiency and privacy.

The centerpiece? A recessed vertical element of red stained glass—a deliberate design choice that subtly yet powerfully hints at the precious gems traded within, making the building itself a beacon for the business. The balance of the exterior is clad in sophisticated dark gray composite panels, creating a modern, enduring aesthetic.

Beyond the Facade: Enhanced Functionality & Value
Our renovation went far beyond aesthetics:

• Rooftop Conversion: We transformed the unused rooftop into a new, rentable office space, significantly increasing the property's commercial value.

• Vertical Transportation: A brand-new lift ensures seamless and comfortable access for customers and users across all floors.

• Unified Design Language: The "diamond-cut" theme and contemporary elegance extend into the interiors, ensuring a cohesive and luxurious experience from the moment you step inside.
This project is a testament to how thoughtful architecture can not only elevate a building's appearance but also its functionality, sustainability, and market appeal. We're proud to have contributed to the evolving architectural landscape of Hunupitiya Cross Road-Colombo 02

Net Zero Workplace Concept

Sustainability is no longer an option; it is a responsibility. This conceptual design explores a Net Zero office building created for a forward-thinking technology company, where environmental performance and modern workplace culture merge seamlessly.

The design focuses on maximizing natural daylight, cross ventilation, and energy efficiency while integrating renewable energy solutions. The architectural form uses shading devices, high-performance glazing, and passive cooling strategies to minimize energy consumption and enhance occupant comfort. Landscaped surroundings and carefully planned outdoor lighting further strengthen the connection between nature and the built environment.

This modern apartment building in Colombo 04 is a harmonious blend of contemporary design and functional living. Rising elegantly, the structure showcases a sleek facade with bold vertical and horizontal elements, adding depth and character to its urban setting.
