This café in the Warakapola area showcases a contemporary tropical architectural style, blending clean modern lines with natural elements. The upper level features a striking cantilevered volume wrapped in vertical wooden slats, softened by cascading greenery that enhances ventilation and visual appeal. The ground floor remains open and inviting, with warm ambient lighting and transparent glass walls that connect the interior to the surrounding landscape. Carefully integrated planting, natural textures, and a muted color palette create a relaxed, eco-conscious atmosphere suited to its lush environment.

Hokandara House By DADo Architect

Situated in Hokandara, this residence embodies a tropical contemporary architectural concept that responds sensitively to climate, landscape, and modern family living. The design emphasizes a harmonious balance between built form and greenery, creating a calm residential environment within a suburban context.

The house is conceived as a composition of clean geometric volumes, articulated through contrasting materials and colors. A bold vertical frame defines the entrance axis, while horizontal roof planes and extended overhangs provide shade and visual continuity. This interplay establishes a strong yet minimal architectural identity.

A key concept of the project is indoor–outdoor integration. Large glazed openings, double-height spaces, and semi-open transition zones allow natural light and cross-ventilation to pe*****te deep into the interior, reducing reliance on artificial cooling. The car porch and entrance court act as buffer spaces that mediate between the street and private living areas.

Landscape is treated as an integral architectural element. Existing and introduced vegetation softens the rectilinear forms, enhances microclimate performance, and frames views from interior spaces. The permeable driveway and layered planting contribute to sustainable management while reinforcing the tropical character.

Material selection reflects durability and warmth. Neutral plastered walls, dark accent frames, timber entrance elements, and textured paving create a contemporary palette that is both elegant and contextually appropriate. The elevated upper floor and shading devices further respond to climatic conditions, ensuring comfort and energy efficiency.

Overall, the residence expresses a modern tropical lifestyle concept—prioritizing openness, environmental responsiveness, spatial clarity, and a strong relationship with nature while maintaining privacy and architectural refinement.
