🌾🌳💦 “Gamtos biblioteka” - sharing a couple more visuals from our proposal for an art installation on the grounds of what used to be an Augustinian monastery in the very heart of Vilnius Old Town.

The layout of the installation is based on a grid of 24 segments of a circle, repeating the radius of the Ramintoja church apse. The installation collects rainwater from the surrounding buildings and directs it through several bowed channels to water herbs grown by the local community and 17 identical flower beds with perforated bottoms. Both the modules and the channels would be made from corten steel, creating associations with the historic, industrial and domestic layers of the church’s past.

The fundamental intention of the installation is to include locals and visitors in the ongoing cycle of nature and to turn them not only into passive observers but also an active part of the created installation.

🌾🌳💦 “Gamtos biblioteka” - we ( ) recently designed a proposal for an art installation on the grounds of what used to be an Augustinian monastery in the very heart of Vilnius Old Town. The installation seeks to reflect the values of Augustines - the harmony of the heavenly and earthly worlds and the desire for continuous improvement through and from .

The proposal is for an open corten steel structure that easily blends into the existing courtayrd space, but at the same time creates intimacy. The structure collects from the surrounding buildings and directs it to the plant beds full of plants and herbs arranged in a circle. The colourful plants in this instalaion celebrate an exeptional local tradition of Vilnius - Easter palm making.

Please follow the link in my bio to vote for our proposal titled “Gamtos biblioteka” (eng. The Library of Nature).

I very much enjoyed developing the collection of flashcards together with and as part of our project. These illustrated cards intend to start the dialogue with the communities and to educate them about the possibile green infrastructure elements in our cities. The user can understand the GI elements through simple illustrations (right) and then compare each element by their ecological, functional, cityscape, maintenacne and stormawater value (left).
