We are currently in a small town in Latvia, where, as in many of these ex-soviet countries, a lot of prefabricated housing units were built during the USSR. Very few are those who haven't seen one while travelling in eastern Europe.
Intrigued, fascinated even, for a couple of years by this building typology, we decided to start sketching what could be an appropriate solution to their now poor condition.
Badly, if at all, insulated, these units nevertheless need more than a couple of centimetres of polystyrene foam covered by several coats of paint to truly live to their potential.
This is why we finally decided to put our money where our mouth is and to start working on a potential solution that would encompass all we care about and what a living building should be nowadays.
