Our Story

SPOT is an internationally operating architecture and related design firm based in Riga, Latvia. The firm is led by two partners: Andris Dzenis and Reinis Salins, who first started a small design studio in 2004, with focus to create a platform that integrates art, architecture and multi-media projects. Parallel to their start-up, both Andris and Reinis gained their experience as architects, working at Latvian leading architecture offices on various projects ranging in size and complexity. In 2012, as partners Andris and Reinis established the firm "SPOT architects", giving their attention primary to architecture and related design.

Since founding, SPOT has secured its own course and position as architecture practice with a staff of proffesionals, who are commited to all phases of the architectural and urbanistic design processes from preliminary sketch-design to the projects’ completion. The team is comprised of managers, architects, engineers and is matched to design and manage various projects ranging in size and complexity. Through the staff’s international education and work experience in Finland, Switzerland, Italy and the United Kingdom, cross-cultural disciplines are turned into local designing practices.

SPOT’s oeuvre is wide in scope and ranges from apartments, private residences, social, cultural projects including retail and furniture design. Almost 100 projects have been designed since its founding, of which more that 30 are realized in Latvia. By certain projects SPOT has participated as the development consultant, architect and supervisor.

SPOT is reputed for realizing unique concepts and attractive designs where powerful and outspoken ideas present a social and spatial cohesion, while simultaneously offer the required flexibility to maneuver within unpredictable changing circumstances. Conceptual approach to architectural challenges range from large scale to in-depth and precise solutions that allow for the spatial experience to reflect on senses and intimacy. Through conceptual approach, great attention to detail and natural materials in form of wood, concrete, glass and stone profoundly communicate the core values of the architectural language that SPOT Architects advocate through their work. By bringing together expertise in the numerous interest groups, long-term design strategies are gained. Strategic collaborations are sought after with experts out various disciplines such as engineering, construction and building technology, cost analysis, process management, graphic design and photography. SPOT has formed permanent collaborations for several disciplines.
