Honurable mention in architectural competition for "Independence Square" in Riga. A collaboration between Studio SIJA, Reinis Dzudzilo, Lienes Griezīte and Nemoralis.
Located in the Old Riga the site is composed of three distinct characters - the surrounding buildings that create the boundary of the square, existing trees and central structure of the square. These pre-existing conditions created the outline of our proposal to keep part of the central structure while
simultaneously opening it up for the surrounding Old Riga and Arsenāls museum. This allowed to create a new, contemporary square next to an important cultural spot, while respecting it's history. For the central sculpture that was part of the competition brief we proposed a decentralized art object, that is combined from benches, clocks and lamps. These ready-made objects represent the idea that independence is created by a group of people and accessible for everyone.

Veicināšanas balva metu konkursā par “Neatkarības laukumu” Rīgā.
Sadarbība starp Studio SIJA, Reini Dzudzilo, Lieni Griezīti un Nemoralis.
Skvērs, kas atrodas Vecrīgā, sastāv no trim raksturīgiem elementiem – apkārtējām ēkām, kas veido laukuma robežu, esošajiem kokiem un centrālās ietvju struktūras. Šie priekšnosacījumi noteica mūsu piedāvājumu: daļēji saglabāt skvēra struktūru, vienlaikus to atverot pret Vecrīgu un Arsenāla muzeju. Tas ļāva izveidot jaunu, mūsdienīgu laukumu blakus nozīmīgam kultūras punktam, vienlaikus respektējot skvēra vēsturi. Konkursa uzdevumā paredzētās centrālās skulptūras vietā mēs piedāvājām decentralizētu mākslas objektu, kas veidots no soliņiem, pulksteņiem un lampām. Šie gatavie objekti atspoguļo ideju, ka neatkarību veido cilvēku kopums un tā ir pieejama ikvienam.
