Florian Betat of our design team is the co-founder of Riga-based NOMAD architects. Originally from Germany, he studied sustainable architecture in Austria and Norway and is a visiting lecturer at the Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. With this exhibition, Florian aims to address the same core issues that drive his work in sustainability – raising awareness of the cost freedom and stability have on some of us. See him bring the realities of life at NATO’s border closer to those who live in safer, more distant places, so they understand the burden carried by those ensuring a free and just Europe.

Marija Katrina Dambe no mūsu dizaina komandas ir NOMAD architects līdzdibinātāja un lektore ViA - Vidzemes Augstskola. Studējusi ilgtspējīgu arhitektūru Austrijā un Norvēģijā, šobrīd Eesti Kunstiakadeemia / Estonian Academy of Arts doktorante. Aizsardzības tēma viņas dzīvi caurvij pamatīgi – Marija dienē Zemessardze, un pēc darba arhitektūras birojā dodas uz Zemessardzes apmācībām. Marija Katrīna Dambe of our design team is the co-founder of NOMAD architects and lecturer at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences. Educated as a sustainable architect in Austria and Norway, currently a PhD student in Architecture and Urban Planning at Estonian Academy of Arts. The subject of defence is profoundly present in her life, as she is a member of Latvian National Guard and balances her time between her architecture office and field training. See how our pavilion is shaped by her unique perspective on the relationship of sustainability and defence.

We are beyond excited to have landed the 1st place in the Tallinn kindergarten competition.
Our main focus was on simple distribution of the spaces, circular construction method (thus, using the 3cycle system), heritage restrictions and requirements and tox-free construction.
We’ll share the project more in detail soon!
