Pabeidzot 1. ģimnāziju, bija trīs “A” profesiju izvēles – agronoms, advokāts vai arhitekts. “Sapratu, ka bez radošā aspekta darbā neiztikšu, tāpēc devos uz arhitektiem.”
Renāram interesē māksla – glezniecība it īpaši, piemēram, Pīters Brēgels, no Latvijas robežām Padegs un Auseklis Baušķenieks, no mūsdienām uzrunā Miķelis Fišers.

Renārs Putniņš is an architect, representing company "MALUS Architects". His childhood nickname was Reņģis (eng. herring), he enjoys long and meditative walks, eating delicious porridge with cloudberry jam for breakfast, and now and then fishing at the nearby lakes. One of Renārs objects is Kaņepes Kultūras centrs and this is his story.
In general, Renārs has life figured out - his hobby is his job and vice versa. Even when he was just a kid, he used his free time to patiently build sandcastles in Jūrmala. After graduating from school, there were three choices or career paths he could take – agronomist, lawyer, or architect. "I realized that I wouldn't be able to get on in life without that creative aspect, so I chose architecture."
Renārs is interested in art, specifically - paintings. He enjoys artworks by Pieter Bruegel, Padegs and Auseklis Baušķenieks as representatives from his home country Latvia and Miķelis Fišers as a more contemporary example. "I like that there is ambiguity and story behind these artists."
Renārs finds that the best way to recharge himself for a new day is to go fishing, with the main condition being, that no fish should be kept - everything that he catches goes straight back into the water. "It's that feeling, you know... In the morning you come with that cloud of muzzle in your head, then walk along the river for about two hours and look like a complete and round idiot, as while doing that you are talking to yourself. However, in the process, you also somehow calm down and it becomes like some kind of meditation." Renārs enjoys these fishing walks in solitude and without extra company. "Except this one dog who used to go on walks with me, that was a good company," he says. An English Bulldog that goes by the name Tobias was a frequent guest in these walks.
When asked at what stage of his life he was the happiest, Renārs answers that it is - now. "Life is beautiful if you can really look at it. Of course, that is not always possible - but taking the most neutral position one can, we see that it is indeed beautiful."
