How I wish we lived in a time where we made stunning art with our hands instead of using them to doomscroll: consuming but not creating. I yearn for the lost art of woodcarving, of geometric patterns, of mosaic mirror work.

Where can I find workshops for these kinds of things in Atlanta? Let me know if you’ve ever done any of these type of arts!

Ramadan should begin February 17th evening inshaAllah, which is so soon! As mothers and women we have so many missed fasts to make up. I’m aiming to complete at least 10 from now until Ramadan inshaAllah, what’s your goal? Remember, it’s all about progress. May Allah reward your efforts (coz this ain’t easy lol).

Welcome to the guest room series, where we will slowly be transforming the space from bland to…I want to say grand but it’s really a small space lol. The vision is South Asian charm, a room that takes us back to our roots.

Starting off, the fan that came with this room REALLY bothered me. Why is there such a huge fan in a low ceiling room?? It’s got to go. I opted for a brushed gold fandelier, wanted to see what this new kind of fan was about. So far, loving it. With the bulky fan out of the way, it really allows your eyes to wander to what I want the star of the show to be, the moody nawab era accent wall.

Official new hobby is creating accent walls. With 3 done (all arch themed), I’m going for a completely different vibe for our guest room. We’re talking wall molding, colorful wallpaper and fun ideas for a desi room which takes us back to our roots. Excited to start working on it soon iA. Would you like to follow along in the process (I’m completely new to these DIYs) or do you just want to see the final result?

A few simple steps to transform your bedroom into the ultimate sanctuary:

1. **Soft Lighting** – Layer lighting by adding softly lit lamps. I wanted to save space on the nightstand so got 3 mode floor lamps.
2. **Cozy Bedding** – Invest in soft, high-quality sheets, pillows, and blankets for a comfy, inviting bed.
3. **Calming Tones** – Use calming colors like whites, greens, or earthy tones for a serene atmosphere.
4. **Add Texture** – Layer in throws, rugs, and cushions for extra comfort and warmth.
5. **Scented Ambiance** – Light a candle or use essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus for a soothing scent.
6. **Declutter** – Keep your space tidy and organized for a clear, peaceful mind.

Living room wall decor updates. Initially I had planned to go the typical Instagram decor route: gold vintage mirrors and generic abstract art, but then wanted something more personalized. I have been obsessed with the intricate details of Islamic art ever since I was a child, and couldn’t think of something I’d love to add more than our travels to discover Islamic art and architecture. Also added gold mihrab wall hangings against a dark navy wall. Swipe all the way to the end to see how the living room walls looked like when we moved here!

Clean water is a necessity and should be a fundamental right for all humans. Unfortunately, it is far from reality for Yemenis who have been adversely affected by conflicts in the region. Over half of the Yemeni population has no access to clean drinking water, which in turn causes water borne diseases. This can be avoided by installing filtration systems, and helps with just that.

In the last 10 days of Ramadan, let’s help 1000 Yemenis attain clean water for the at least the next 5 years. If we cross $700, the money will be spent on additional taps in Yemen inshaAllah.

It will take around 6-8 months for the system to be installed in Yemen, but the organization will be updating me with photos and I will be sure to share them on my stories inshaAllah. Be a part of this amazing journey with us! The Prophet SAW said the best form of charity is providing water. Extra rewards for the last 10 days of Ramadan is the icing on the cake :) Let’s see how much we can raise together iA! Link posted in stories. Bismillah.

When a donation opportunity for clothes comes up in your area, always always try to take it. Especially if it’s for traditional clothes since it’s hard to find organizations that take those. We all have way more clothes than we need, and it’s good to declutter to keep on top of your closet and avoid messes.

When entering a closet, it can feel really overwhelming to choose what to donate, especially if there’s an emotional attachment to the clothes. Here are three tips you can use next time you donate clothes:

1) Pick a number of clothes you want to donate and stick to that. Makes the decision process easier when you know you will be donating 5 or 10 pieces of clothes.
2) Try out clothes in front of a mirror if you’re unsure. With our bodies constantly changing the fit and look of the clothes also change.
3) Next time you shop, use the “one in, one out method”, where you donate something from the closet every time you add something new. This will help keep the space organized!
