THANK YOU to the magnificent team House & Garden Magazine for raising me to Interior Design Valhalla. I am hugely flattered to be awarded a place amongst such a roster of great talents. As this is my “Oscar” moment an especial thanks to the wonderful Liz Elliot (pause for tears)! I could go on and thank everybody who has ever worked for me and of course the encouragement of so many clients - many of whom are amongst my closest friends. There are not many careers where you can have so much fun in between the slog plus so many opportunities as well still working to push forward design boundaries. ♥️

London in spring loveliness on a glorious, glorious day - one has to count one’s blessings. But really after such a miserable few weeks - not only the weather - it’s not that unhealthy to feel warmth and cheer. There’s a good reason that the streets are packed with tourists - we are very lucky to be here (so far).

Escaped from months of grey to orange blossom scented Marrakech! Cares of the world melting for a few days! Marrakech always inspirational as well as utterly relaxing and, lodged in the Palmerai, totally peaceful. We are surrounded by palms, peacocks and pools - some for swimming and some with colonies of frogs and terrapins, being gommaged (no it’s not rude just painful) adds up to peace excepting news addiction.

Went to Tetbury today for a mosey round . I’ll share tomorrow some of the delights but the most extraordinary delight was SUNSHINE ☀️ of which we have been starved for so long. The beneficial legacy of the rain was the intensity of the green and an optimistic blossom was beginning was budding. Ho for the country side and hey for the first warmth of the year. They say it won’t last!

An evening invitation to a project worked on during Covid (lest we forget) - architecture by Seth Stein. Even on the coldest night how warm and welcoming! More than a little nod to the supremo Barragan obv.

You’ve sadly missed Lee Miller I very nearly did - but but hook or by crooked did it! I was impressed, moved and tearful particularly by the war series. Minimal details giving a chill to the viewer especially with talk of rearmament- unimaginable. On a lighter note she was gorgeous.

Slowly creeping out of hibernation and so to for Mme B and my first Boris Gudenov and WOW it was - worth braving rain and rain and rain. a bit of and possibly but in any case

Ely cathedral - so beautiful that I was on the point of conversion. Just happened to be there whilst a Dutch choir was rehearsing Evensong - all very moving - though my daughter claims I am always being “moved” by something or “anything”. Then again my mother would weep walking through Central Station when she saw passengers waving good bye! But back to the cathedral- it’s worth the longest detour to see it. And if I don’t post again A Wonderful 2016 to all - possibly a tad optimistic but need to be. (Poss more pix to follow)!

Super glam beribboned Christmas lunch - totally delish, great family friendships augmented by my first attempt at sticky toffee pudding (not shown) - the BEST! (Both the lunch and my STP!!) Happy Christmas to all!!

There are advantages to sitting at the back of the plane outside of the dosh! I’ve always loved these views of places that make you wonder what’s going on below. Also seeing sunny shore lines and snow capped hills engender a kind of happiness that landing in Gatwick in the grey cold doesn’t.
