This transition provides a smooth pedestrian approach, a calm, welcoming experience. Even upon crossing the doorstep, the user first encounters a “dirty hallway” – a practical space that marks the shift into the “clean” area.

👉 Nature of Order
A symmetrical floor plan creates balance and harmony between the individual units. Each square meter is purposefully designed to fit the needs of future residents. No leftovers.

Living Area – Bedrooms – Bedrooms – Living Area

This simple vertical arrangement places quieter zones at the center, effectively soundproofing the noisy social areas. The ground-floor units enjoy a private garden, while the upper-floor units offer a nice view over the city of Skopje/Mount Vodno.

DETAILS, Residential Building, Veles

Set within the evolving urban landscape of Veles, this residential building explores the relationship between material honesty and human experience. The architecture reveals itself gradually — from the sheltered entrance sequence that softens the threshold between city and home, to the façade where concrete frames and wooden inserts create a rhythm of repetition and pause.

Each balcony extends the living space outward, blurring the line between private and collective, while allowing the structure to breathe with light and shadow. From above, the building reads as a careful composition of solids and voids — terraces woven into a compact urban form that feels both dynamic and grounded.

It’s a project defined by proportion, rhythm, and atmosphere — where geometry meets life, and where every detail contributes to a sense of measured calm within the density of the city.

Situated in Veles, this residential complex of around 1,000 m² reflects Biro Brut’s ongoing exploration of compact urban living. The project integrates several housing units within a cohesive volume, balancing privacy with shared experience through thoughtful spatial organization.

The sloped roof is designed as an active architectural element — not only shaping the building’s silhouette but also extending the interior height and light quality of the top floors. This gesture improves both the visual and spatial character of the structure, while remaining in harmony with its surroundings.

Built with accessible materials and precise detailing, the project demonstrates how architectural quality can emerge from modest means. Its strength lies in proportion, spatial coherence, and a design language that values simplicity as a form of sophistication.

Designed with simplicity and function in mind, the architecture uses a palette of efficient and clean materials, creating a cohesive modern aesthetic.

The buildings are arranged around a shared plateau that acts as a semi-private courtyard—an elevated communal zone that brings residents together while offering views over the city.

Natural light enters from multiple directions, gently pulled deep into the interior through large openings. Materials stay natural and calm - wood, stone, and soft textiles layered with intention.
