Facade: A Balance of Heritage and Modernity 🏛️✨
When designing the exterior for Gogi by Omuk at The Central Boulevard, our goal was to create a facade that immediately commands attention while honoring authentic Korean architecture.
Here is a closer look at the design details that bring this exterior to life:
The Traditional 'Giwa' Roof: The crowning feature of the building is the sweeping, traditional Korean tiled roof. We incorporated the iconic curved eaves to create a strong, instantly recognizable cultural silhouette against the skyline.
Intricate 'Dancheong' Detailing: If you look closely at the under-eaves in our 3D renders, you will notice vibrant, multi-colored patterns. This is inspired by Dancheong, traditional Korean decorative coloring, which adds a layer of rich historical authenticity, craftsmanship, and visual warmth to the grand overhang.
The Modern Glass Contrast: To prevent the traditional elements from feeling too heavy, we designed the second floor as a sleek, transparent glass box. This allows the ornate roof to visually "float" above the structure, while providing diners on the upper level with unobstructed, panoramic views of the area.
The Welcoming Entrance Portal: At the ground level, we framed the main entrance with robust, warm wooden pillars and topped it with a secondary, smaller traditional roof. This creates an inviting, human-scale focal point that naturally guides guests in from the street.
By contrasting these deeply traditional wooden and tiled elements with clean, modern glass and dark contemporary side cladding, the facade perfectly reflects the restaurant's concept: a modern, elevated approach to centuries-old culinary traditions.
