Et voilΓ !
A bird of paradise (Strelitzia reginae) grand reveal!
I was walking around the garden this morning couldn't help but notice this eye catching display of bright orange and blue flower, almost resembling a tropical bird in flight. Mind you, a few days ago, I thought it was part of the leafy green foliage in that corner of the garden. Truly, it is the little things in nature that bring a smile to your eyes.

As most of us didn't grow up with google lens to identify flowers and plants, we learned to use generic names such as "hedge" for every shrub-like plant πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
So, today, I am happy to inform you that this particular "hedge" is called the Purple Heart (Tradescantia pallida).
You learn something new every day πŸ‘

Lilongwe has been scorching hot lately but we hope for rain soon and a new season of bloom.
In the mean time meet another member of our garden, the magnificent Zephyranthes minuta or the Rain Lilly.
It provides nectar and pollen to bees and other pollinating insects.
With bees becoming an endangered specie, we should all have at least one in every garden.
