BUDIC is an architectural, urbanism and design firm founded by Fernando Pérez Vera. BUDIC does not innovate for the sake of novelty.

BUDIC is a multidisciplinary firm that undertakes architectural, urban and design projects in an innovative way, committed to the development of design and city culture. The design proposals of BUDIC, far from being formulated in a preconceived way, are based on the profound investigation and diagramming of client needs and the surrounding economical, social, political and urban circumstances, irr

espective of scale. BUDIC aims to work ‘in between’ the articulations of urban and domestic space, function and form, graphic and tri dimensional, public and private realms, avoiding the sterile discussion about these dichotomies. Our project approach is Multilayered, requiring the investigation of all information stratum that converge in any given project: Economy, Sociology, Politics, Technology, Finances and Ecology. It is also Multiprogrammatic, as through form –PER-FORM - it de-limits, combines, mixes and collides functional programs which can unleash unexpected potentials. Finally, it is Multiscale, with design decisions following a bottom-up approach – from the human scale up to the city scale. BUDIC works as a team with clients to offer solutions which are pragmatic, flexible, clear and elegant. Together we identify the key questions, conflicts and opportunities in order to build a common ground from where the architectural and urban proposals can be analyzed and tested. It does not accept predigested solutions. It approaches projects with certain critical innocence and without prejudice, to expose solutions that transcend first impressions and formulaic answers. Some of the projects explore possibilities, some other reuse traditional concepts that reaffirm the conventional. Finally, BUDIC perceives problems as design opportunities. Restrictions such as budgets, schedules, building codes, politics, business plans and site conditions are seen as a catalyst for the most advanced design solutions.

For some months now, we have been proudly working alongside our client on , a new mixed-use project with an urban vocation to be inclusive, immersive and integrating. The development will be a permeable meeting point for the community and will follow 'placemaking' principles.

The project integrates Retail, Offices, Residential, Hotel and Hospital around a series of shared open and semi-open public spaces that all users have direct access and will be linked to the existing shopping centre across the street via a raised connection that will aim to make the transition as seamless as possible.

The curved geometry of the project aspires to create spatial continuity that generates clear, legible and entertaining journeys across the site.

Our design integrates partitions and volumes that vary in height to allow for light to filter through and maintain a sense of continuity. Our proposal considers three “functional volumes” –reminiscing of the ones cut at the nearby quarries- that organize the interior space and work as self-contained “service” units: storage, cafeteria, print stations. //

Inspired by the archaeological remains of the indigenous Paquimé culture (see image 3) not far from our project in Chihuahua, our design integrates partitions and volumes that vary in height to allow for light to filter through and maintain a sense of continuity. Our KO project considered the complete renewal of office and meeting spaces on top of a historic building. The scheme had to integrate an existing lightwell while maintaining interior continuity through different levels of the space. This was solved with a new glass staircase that allows for light to filter below and is also a lighting feature at night // //

// Conversion of a curtainwall office building to integrate open-air meeting and working spaces to accomodate postcovid corporate environments // By removing the glass from the facade at specific sections of the floorplates - corners, segments, complete perimeters and lobbies - but maintaining the facade bearing substructure, new patterns of interaction and collaboration are introduced into an otherwise generic corporate building. //

Some images of last week’s to our project nearing completion // Following client’s ambition to have a unique and ambitious office interior, we proposed wooden panelling that seamlessly transitions to a wall from which furniture appears to “slide” creating a continuous form/system.
