Puerto Escondido no es especial solo por sus playas.
Es una Reserva Mundial de Surf porque aquí existe un equilibrio muy delicado entre el océano, el viento, la arena, la vegetación y la forma en la que habitamos el lugar.
Y aunque muchas veces pensamos que la arquitectura solo trata de edificios… la realidad es que cada proyecto sí impacta el entorno que lo rodea.
Cómo se orienta una construcción.
Qué tanto invade el terreno.
Cómo se maneja el agua.
Qué materiales se usan.
Cómo responde al clima.
Y hasta cómo interactúa con el paisaje y el ecosistema.
Por eso construir con conciencia no debería ser opcional.
Es responsabilidad de todos exigir proyectos mejor pensados.
Y también es responsabilidad de nosotros, como arquitectos, usar nuestro conocimiento para guiar decisiones más responsables y viables para cada lugar.
Porque diseñar en Puerto Escondido no debería tratarse de imponer arquitectura sobre la naturaleza.
Debería tratarse de aprender a coexistir con ella.

Puerto Escondido is not special only because of its beaches.
It’s a World Surfing Reserve because there is a delicate balance between the ocean, the wind, the sand, the vegetation, and the way we choose to inhabit this place.
And although architecture is often seen as “just buildings”… the reality is that every project impacts its surroundings.
How a building is positioned.
How much land it occupies.
How water is managed.
What materials are used.
How it responds to climate.
And even how it interacts with the landscape and ecosystem.
That’s why building consciously should never be optional.
It’s everyone’s responsibility to demand better planned projects.
But it’s also our responsibility as architects to use our knowledge to guide smarter and more responsible decisions for each place we design in.
Because designing in Puerto Escondido should not be about imposing architecture onto nature.
It should be about learning how to coexist with it.
