I’ve been having recent conversations around just how powerful it is for women to rise together.

I think we know this by now. The bu****it of competition and cattiness is so over. We’ve wised up. That energy just pits us against one another and in essence, dims our collective light. We are ready to move on.

Entrepreneurship does not have to be a lonely endeavor. Nothing to prove in going at it alone. In fact, collaboration with others, especially women, propels the propensity for more beauty, more connection, more creativity, more joy, more growth.

Over a year ago, I landed a beautiful design job in Todos Santos, Baja, and while I know I could pull it off, I didn’t want do it on my own.

Enter … with Hillary Kent at the helm. I designed . Her team procured and implemented. It was a kick ass combo. Within the same industry of design, we merged our strengths to bring a dream home of dream clients to life.

This week we installed together. Wasn’t easy 😅 but we had a great time doing it! Feeling all sorts of blessed for this experience and looking forward to more creative collabs with amazing women!

A while back my Integrated Design teacher, Kimberly@schoolofintegrativedesign , shared the metaphor of home evolution & a nautilus which resonated VERY deeply with me.

Called a living fossil because it’s not changed much in 150 million years, a newly hatched nautilus wears a shell divided into 7 or 8 small chambers.

As the mollusk grows, it gains more living space by building new chambers connected to the old ones. It keeps doing this in a spiral to accommodate its shape. Adult shells have 30 chambers and the cool thing is the empty chambers help with their buoyancy.

Essentially, this organism carries versions of its home with it, evolving its space as it evolves.

I love this so much cuz that’s me! 😃
That’s how I see the connection we have with our environments. It’s a symbiotic relationship. As we shift, so should our containers.

After “floating” this planet for decades, I know a thing or two about forming home wherever I go.
And each place holds a new version of me. This concept is something I integrate with clients too.
We explore:
-how you relate to the idea of “home”
-where you feel you’ve outgrown your space
-what a design shift can do to expand your self

Last week after hosting the She Designs retreat in San Miguel de Allende, I got a tattoo (gracias )of a nautilus interior. The experience felt like a ceremony: safe, sacred, intentional.

For me, it’s a marker of this new season I’m entering making home in CA again. It also reminds me that home is fluid, keeps evolving, just like me. 🌀

This is a project of dreams✨.

Dream location (desert meets ocean).
Dream clients (salt of the earth folks from Idaho).
Dream team (collab with the wonderful ladies ) .

For 1.5 years, I’ve been working on this project and not once have I felt like I wanted it to be done.

The reason? There has been soul & intention from the start.

Building a home in Baja is not for the faint of heart and every single person involved in creating it has stepped up with so much heart it makes me giddy ❤️.

In April I’ll be there for the installation of furniture & decor. I am excited to see this labor of love come to life!

I was gifted this koi fish print and decided it was best placed in my office/creative room.

On the Feng Shui Bagua map, the rear left space is the area to activate wealth + prosperity.

Looking into it koi fish symbolize:

•perserverence & success-rooted in the legend of the Yellow River, where koi swam against the current to turn into a dragon, they represent overcoming obstacles & attaining high goals

•good fortune & wealth- seen as talismans for good, prosperity & success in business

•colors- gold and silver =wealth, red & white = success and purity, black = strength, blue = tranquility

•pairs - harmony, collaboration, yin/yang balance

•water - tuned into emotions and flow

Feels like the perfect spot for it.

If your nervous system is taking on so much more than it can handle, one thing to do is ground.

Yes, meditation helps. Breathing does too.

But, grounding doesn’t always start in the mind.
Sometimes it starts in the hands.

Natural materials—wood, stone, clay, linen—offer quiet signals of stability and connection that your nervous system understands instinctively.

There’s a reason a ceramic bowl feels different than plastic.
Why linen invites a slower breath.
Why holding a stone can bring you back into your body.

Inspired action:
Add one grounding element to your space today.
A wooden object.
A ceramic bowl.
A linen throw.
Even a simple stone.

Touch it intentionally.
Notice the texture.
Notice your breath.
Notice what softens.

Your space can help you feel held—
sometimes with nothing more than what you can feel beneath your fingers. 🌿

Design doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

This room was empty when I moved in. I didn’t have any furniture.
So, I thrifted. I thrifted hard! 😂

Found all these pieces for under $500.
•sofa -$100
•chest coffee table- $gifted
•French cane chair -$35
•metal side table -$55
•entry cabinet - $30
•Moroccan rug - $free from my sales commissions
•vintage dining table -$75
•2 chairs - -$25
•corner shelf from India -$35
•round mirror -$60

Takes patience and luck to find the right pieces. But, I always feel good revitalizing used things in a new space.

Do you thrift? If so, where’s your fave spot?

Lately, I’ve been taking 10 minutes each morning to answer this prompt: what does home mean to me today?

It’s been a fascinating exercise. So many variances of memory and sensation have emerged. Home is showing up in my past, present, and future.

This one came out a couple of days ago… a childhood memory.

++++++
It would be around 6pm when I’d start looking out the window. On the days he didn’t have to work his second job of teaching U.S. citizenship to adults, I became the welcoming committee along with my little sister. He’d take the bus to and from downtown Los Angeles, and I knew he’d catch the one that got him home just in time for dinner. Sometimes, when she could, my mom would round us up in the car to pick him up. It was a big gesture of love as she also would have a long day caring for little kids at our house. Sitting at the dining table doing our homework, our ears piqued at any sound of footsteps. Most times though, it was the jingling of keys that signaled his arrival. It would take him a moment to find the right key and slide it in, all maneuvered with his one “good hand”. This was enough time for us to stop whatever we were doing and sprint to the door. At entering, he’d smile wide and bend down to give us each a kiss. Reaching into his coat pocket, he’d pull out the strawberry candies he likely took from a dish on the receptionist’s desk and dropped one each in our hands. It was always so sweet to have him home.

I am always keenly interested in people’s home stories….where their sense of home comes from.

If you have one please share. It’ll inspire me to write my book ✨!

Your nervous system is always scanning.

Not for aesthetics.
Not for perfection.
For safety.

When there’s too much in your line of sight, your body stays subtly alert—holding tension you might not even notice.

This isn’t about decluttering your entire home.
It’s about reducing the signals your nervous system has to process.

Tonight, try moving just one object out of view.
One surface. One corner. One visual pause.

Then notice what happens in your body—not your thoughts.

I created a free guide, Your Space Is Talking to Your Nervous System, to help you understand how your environment affects regulation—and how to make small shifts that create immediate ease.

We live in a world of incredible distraction.

At times masked as productivity, involvement, engagement, it can also clutter our senses, make us sick, separate us from ourselves, others, the planet.

Intentionality is medicine. Find what brings presence and do that for moments at a time. Dancing, making art, climbing rocks…things like that.

The result is tapping into the real pulse of life and it feels damn good.
