The Master of Architecture (Coursework) Programme at the School of Housing, Building and Planning (HBP) is a two-year postgraduate programme that leads to LAM Part II accreditation upon successful completion. It is designed for graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture or equivalent qualifications with LAM Part I accreditation from recognised local or international institutions.
The programme prepares students for professional architectural practice by strengthening design skills, technical knowledge, and critical thinking abilities. Students are exposed to a wide range of design projects, including multi-storey buildings, housing and human settlement design, and smaller-scale projects that respond to different site contexts and design challenges. In the final year, students complete an independent design thesis based on a chosen architectural typology and area of interest.
A strong emphasis is placed on sustainable and green design principles, including energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, and environmentally responsible practices. The programme also encourages students to consider social, cultural, and environmental contexts in their design work. Graduates are equipped with creative problem-solving skills and forward-thinking approaches to meet the demands of the evolving global built environment.
